Aside from the first ten minutes I thought the Pens played great. They were clearing rebounds, keeping shots to the outside, and generating chances left and right. Marino was a beast tonight too. - j.boyd919
Yup. Rags came out flying and might have blew their load in the first period.
Took a toll though. Losing Rikki sucks |

They've already exceeded my expectations. After that first I thought we were gonna finish with 5 healthy skaters.
Sully should sub in some youth for the old guys next game. - Thorny87

I thought the Pens were dominate in the 2nd OT and the early part of the 3rd OT. First OT seemed rather even to me. - j.boyd919
Agree with this. Sid's line was amazing. Almost every time they hit the ice they were getting chances.

I'm not sure what the graphs will say, but the Pens seemed sluggish all 3 OTs. Rags looked like the younger team. Happy with the win, wondering how theyll be for Game 2. - jmatchett383
happy with the win. it is worrisome though. its not even a want/effort thing. there were years that seemed to be apparent. problem right now is there just are a lot of players right now who simply arent very good at creating actual shots. i know they attempted however many tonight, but other than the crosby line how many actual opportunities were consistently generated?
zucker has had a brutal year but he would really help. rakkell down is a killer.
kapanen is beyond useless. erod, mcginn, boyle, heinen. these guys bust their ass but they arent going to generate their own opportunities. carter is cooked.
desmith/louie deserve all the credit in the world tonight. |

John Marino was on another level tonight, perhaps his best professional performance ever. Per

51 shot attempts for, 17 against
82% control of the expected goals
Assisted on the game winner
And survived a couple massive runs from Reaves |

That's unfortunate. And short sighted.
Zucker sounds like he'll be back. I'd sub out Boyle or Kap for O'Conner.

Kap was about 75% useless but I actually thought he could have put in a few goals there. Heinen looked really good to me. Carter got better as the game went on but he wasn't looking good.
If Rackell and Zucker get back that will be a huge boost

The 5 on 5 HDCF were 29-14 for the Pens that's nuts... 43 HDCs in a game is nuts... What a crazy game 1 |

Sully ain’t changing a god damn thing. That would disrupt a room that just won a triple OT game 1 on the road at MSG agains the Vezina winning goalie. The (frank) would you try to (frank) with that? |

I actually thought he looked pretty bad for a lot of the game. Seemed to settle down in overtime. Really nice play to load up and fire that shot quickly on the winner. |

I thought Kap had a pretty good game tonight not to mention his forecheck behind the net turned the puck over and he fed Marino for the shot to the point in the GWG. |

i think heinen has underrated finishing ability but he isnt going to create a ton on his own. glad malkin bulled his way down there for the tip, but this wasnt one of his best games at dictating play. carter might be able to finish too, but he trails the play entirely too much as a center at this point.
ill admit to having blinders on about kap at this point. I want him jettisoned into the sun.
zucker back would be a boost. I have a feeling if healthy he is going to be flying. Rack looked majorly (frank)ed up. who knows when hes cleared. |

I thought he was brutal at times, but he also had some good moments as the game moved on. He had a bunch of shots and an assist on the GWG. Kind of hard to take him out. |

I don't see that happening. Reaves was a factor in this game. He had extra pep in his step on a few shifts, couldn't believe his speed. Scary dude to be having closing in on ya hahaha |
