There was 10 minutes left in the game. Is he going to sit them the rest of the game? Of course they’re going to stir poop. They were looking for trouble. But that clip shows things got going when Simmonds came in and paired up with Hedman. Maybe it would have started anyway. But facts are facts.

Craig Simpson says, "Simmonds comes in and engages with Hedman,", but that's his interpretation. What I see in that replay is that Simmonds came into have a word with Perry about his antics, and Hedman grabbed Simmonds. That's when things flared. Is that Simmonds who escalates? Is it Hedman? Is the real fault that of both Perry and Maroon for trying to start something after a perfectly legal and relatively harmless check on Ruuta?

I'm not sacrificing Simmonds as the lamb on this one.

Clifford>Simmonds

Both give you the same offence.

Simmonds is by far the better fighter, may be one of the best in the NHL.

But one thing Clifford does well and much better than Simmonds is time hits well. He rarely misses a hit and just has a bit of a wrecking ball body where Simmer is a lanky dude.

Clifford's skating is a strength. He can move and plays a little D when he's on his game.

Assuming everyones healthy on Wed I wonder who drops into his spot on the 4th ...Kase? Kerfoot? Bunting?

I haven't seen every Leafs game ever played of course.

But yesterday was the best game I've seen Morgan Rielly play.

Guy was everywhere on the ice and controlling the play even in desperate situations.

No, I said the brawl started when Simmonds skated in and went after Hedman. I’m not trying to convict anybody of anything. It’s a simple point. Most of the players were standing around. Simmonds comes in and engages with Hedman. A brouhaha ensues.

Oh well, whatever works.

It says all you need to know that Maroon's total penalties for that brawl were a 10 minute misconduct. Not even a 2 minute penalty for 5 or 6 bare fisted shots at Rielly's head after the initial sucker punch.
