Looking back at the last time leafs won game 1 was 2019 playoffs.

Game 1 leafs

Game 2 bruins

Game 3 leafs

Game 4 bruins

Game 5 leafs

Game 6 bruins

Game 7 bruins

Bruins went on to lose in cup finals in 7 games to St. Louis.

Game 2 win would be huge for the leafs.

Is it the same refs all series?
- Archaic

Yes I think so? I think it's the same team of officials for each series barring anything happening. I do think they are travelling though and they work every night.

It was going down no matter what happened.

Which endorses the case for Simmonds to do his job and get Perry out of the game before it does even more.

I wasnt able to find that answer easily via a quick google search so I wasnt sure. I think that is a good thing honestly. It should be consistent for the entire series.

I haven't seen every Leafs game ever played of course.

But yesterday was the best game I've seen Morgan Rielly play.

Guy was everywhere on the ice and controlling the play even in desperate situations.

All Leaf defense played well and the penalty killing was amazing. Tampa had 7 minutes of PP in the first and had 5 shots on goal in that period. Tampa managed 24 shots on Campbell the entire game. Brodie was outstanding.

I'm full of random, trivial thoughts this morning, but here's one:

I miss the out of town scoreboard.

Remember the ones they had at the gardens? Where they would insert the teams' logos?

IIRC, they used to show the scores on the video ring between the first and second bowls at the ACC. Not sure when they stopped it, but I guess they figured they could squeeze some extra money out by replacing it with ads.

Yes, I know I have my phone at games and can check it whenever I want, but it's just a little thing from the past that I miss.

And honestly, I didn't even think to do it last night. The game was that good.

I was at a Chicago Cubs game many years ago (around 2000 or so), and they were still old school. They're out of town scoreboard was in the outfieild, and you could see the guys running around changing the numbers every time a team scored or the inning changed. They stuck with old school on purpose. I wonder if they still do that.

It's a really minor thing, but I loved when the refs called Kucherov for this crosscheck:

https://twitter.com/TicTa...tatus/1521278921152602114

Usually the refs let that go in the playoffs. Which is absolutely stupid.

I think everyone was surprised with all the calls they were making

Was funny yesterday too. Also funny, Ekblad has fully recovered and will play tonight. Medicine is wonderful

The Leafs did get a 4 minute powerplay out of it as Perry got the double minor. Not just the league, the refs could have ended it immediately last night instead of letting it play out. They were calling everything in the first 40 minutes.

About 5 minutes before the thuggery, you could see this happening. Tampa came in and laid a few hits behind the Leafs net, but at least two of them were excessively aggressive - one was blatant charging, and one guy left his feet. Then there was holding and the usual bunk all in that one corner - and when the refs let that go, I said to my friend, "Tampa knows this game can get ugly and the refs are going to let them. It'll be a miracle if someone isn't injured as a result."

The whole team played awesome, even that bum Engvall.

Clifford was great for 0:49 seconds as well

I know right?

Imagine, if he came back last week the cap wouldn't fit with Giroux and Chiarot.

It's true.. Tampa was running around once the Leafs made it 4-0.. The Refs could have and should have put an end to it

I could be wrong but I think that's what I remember being spoken about before. There's 20 guys and my guess is maybe it's 4 teams of 5 and one person is extra or the lead or something. Everyone does two series so they are working each night. My guess is this group went to Calgary.

Or I'm way off and it's like 5 teams of 4 and one squad gets less games and is extra.

Fine, we’ll beat last year’s cheaters this round and this year’s cheaters next round. (I refuse to engage in any discussion on legality of use of LTIR. While playoffs are underway, they’re all cheaters.)
