I don’t think Cooper was prepared to get smacked
tonight because that is not a smart thing to say…TB just won back to back cups. He doesn’t need to re instil confidence in them, they know they are
good.

You don’t fire up a hungry Leaf team even more than they are after the best playoff
game they have played in decades.

Rookie move Cooper.

Back to back cup winning coach, I think he knows what he's doing. He's trying to get in their heads, they just have to ignore everything good or bad and move on. To be honest, he's not wrong, it's not they played exceptionally well with all the penalties they took. As dominant as the score was, it's not sustainable to rely on your PK that much. They'll need to play better next game if they want another win and hopefully they know that.

Reread it, I asked a pertinent question. Don't post ambiguous statements about they thinking we are soft.
- henny1953

Oh our apologies I was not sure we needed to give your kind context so I didn't. Last game while TB was up by half a dozen goals Maroon was caught on mic quite clearly yelling "You guys are (frank)ing soft!"

So run along thanks.

Not disagreeing with your take on Cooper, but hard to imagine the Leafs playing better. The officials will have to be better for sure. Mikheyev with two chintzy penalties Killorn with diplomatic immunity. Wasn't at the game but that crowd was as loud as I can recall. Great game by the boyz.

Fun playoff game
Bit of a statement I think, its not going to TB pushing the leafs around.
Id put Clifford back in, dumb hit, but it may have flipped a switch for the Leafs

That was a character win. Would have been so easy to fold after they gained momentum and then had to fight off a 5 minute penalty. That PK was a thing of beauty.

Wouldn't be a stretch at all. Marner, Kerfoot and Matthews were outstanding. I'll put a red star on that PP goal by Matthews.

The fighting at the end was an embarrassment to the sport.

Tampa got spanked, so they gooned it up.

Why the frank doesn’t the league get rid of this crap?

No other sport would tolerate it.

Agree completely - however a coaching strategy to have Perry and Maroon take out the Leafs top d-man is rewarded by the goon running player safety not punished.

Ya it only took one game to show that muzzin was definitely not done.
Great game.
What a game by Kerfoot...cant believe people want to move him out.

The depth guys were great as well.
Can the leafs play like that for 3 more games? We'll see.
Tampa will come out flying in game 2, hopefully the leafs can score the first goal so they dont get into the game too much.
Tomorrows problem.

Fun fact:

The Leafs outshot the Bolts 14-8 in the third period.

Didn’t take their foot off the gas pedal.

Love it.

Because they believe fans love it....and they were all standing on their feet.
It's the NHL, stop expecting anything from them.
