Still, moving Provorov right now makes zero sense for this team.

Which will be met by the response “what if the offer is too good to turn down?” Well if that’s the case l guess he’s not nearly as terrible as everyone thinks he is.

They need to add to this defense. And moving Provorov right now only creates a bigger hole.

'None of this is factual at all. Not one person has posted about fighting being considered grit. Grit is about "firmness of character; indomitable spirit; pluck.

One thing Macewen does well is work hard and play with energy. Every shift he is out there, he's giving it his all. He gets into dirty areas and he works hard to gain possession. Macewen is not soft. He doesnt have the skill so he has to overcompensate with hard work.

I agree that the Flyers need more skill but they need someone with the same grit Macewen brings. What you described is an enforcer. Someone who is there to do nothing but fight. That is not Macewen.

Macewen is an mediocre 4th liner for the regular season. He's the type of player you replace at the trade deadline for someone like a Maroon, Goodrow or Coleman. The other benefit is Macewen's work ethic can rub off on the younger guys

And how exactly do we do we trade for the players your named? Tampa can do it becaofvtheir position as contenders.

Vegas wasn’t hurt by making it to a final with Ryan Reaves. This team has much bigger issues than one player who plays minimal minutes.

Kemell is a bit of reach where we’re likely to draft. I would rather pay the price to move up for Slafkovsky than reach on Kemell. One of the draft podcasts I was listening to everyone was disappointed with Kemell’s play this 2nd half of the season and basically said having him go top 5 in their mock draft was a mistake. Take from that what you will.

I am still quite worried that we end up moving this pick for immediate help because they don’t want to wait on anyone to develop.

I want a good hockey player first and foremost. I don't place much value in fighting.

How good of a hockey player are you getting at Mcewens salary? Every team needs a couple million dollar players, and Mcewen is still 20% below that.

You and others don't seem to realize that MacEwen is not an effective player. He doesn't play his role. When he is on the ice, the team is outscored and outchanced by a wide margin. He doesn't contribute on special teams. He's not a good defensive winger who can play effectively in holding leads if the team ever gets to that point. So what role does he fill exactly? No, there is no room in the NHL for ditch diggers if you want to be a good team. I'm not sure what some people don't get.
In the bigger picture and what you're also missing is that MacEwen represents the flaw in the Flyers philosophy and what kind of players they value. It's just more archaic dinosaur thinking.
Man up and play the right way. You'd be perfect for the Flyers PR staff.

- MJL

I tend to agree with you about MacEwen. I like his energy and that old school Flyers look, but bottom line the guy has hands of stone and the Flyers 4th line this year was abysmal, even by their standards. The Flyers can get tougher, there are players out there who are tough, can skate and have better hands for relatively cheap money.

Thanks Krakstol for that staged loss. 🤮
- THE EVIL WITHIN

They gave 3 goals in 4 minutes in the 3rd ... it was completely Flyers like. If the Flyers drop to 6th because of this ...

That Ellis situation really is a bomb waiting to go off in their face. I mean, all the players say that you can't replicate game shape. This reeks of the same exact thing happening next season. All seems well and good, and then he takes it to that next level physically come game time and goes to mush again. Just awful scenario there. Thanks!
- Phillywhiteout

I think we need to wait and see what happens. However I will say I almost wish he was having surgery because then at least they are repairing something. Here it seems he has pelvic tissue issues and the only thing you can do is some sort of treatment. That scares me.

Who is this Laughts guy you refer to? I mean, did he even play after he sustained that injury? I've pretty much seen enough of his act. I've never seen a guy go into slumps like this guy does. I mean, was he even on the ice after he came back from injury. Enough I say!! These are the kind of players that need to be removed from this lineup. Scores 5 goes in 6 games and then goes MIA for 25 games! Enough! Thanks!

How about Atkinson, one of the Flyers leading scorers. How do you feel about his slumps? He has 5 slumps of 7 or more games without scoring a goal.

Going back and reading this article is hilarious given the current state of the team. The best part is you can literally feel how excited Craig Leopold is to have foisted Fletcher and company onto a different organization. Seriously, those comments are over the top lol.

Scott Laughton: B
Laughton shouldn’t be one of the Flyers’ better forwards.

That’s not a slight against Laughton. But he’s a player who is best served as a Swiss Army knife role player, the good version of a “glue guy” who can fill in at multiple spots, provide grit and heart, while also chipping in with some offense here and there and posting solid underlying metrics. On a very good team, he’s somewhere in the No. 7-10 range of best forwards.

On this Flyers club? He was easily in the top four when ranking out the most consistently effective ones.

Laughton’s 30 points in 67 games paces out to about 37 over a full season, and is his second-most efficient scoring campaign after 2019-20. And it was spent in large part playing center — not his ideal position — due to the team’s injury woes. Also, out of the forwards on the team that played more than 40 games, Laughton ranked second (behind Giroux) in xG impact (+0.069). Laughton scored at a solid clip, drove play and stepped up into a larger leadership role. He did his job.

Typical stat geeks that know nothing about the game. The guy was totally invisible the last 20 games. Atkinson didn't score in 7 games. Laughts doesn't even record an assist for 20 games at a time. Face it, Laughts is a dime a dozen 4th line player at best.

We are right about a lot of players. It just seems that some fans have a blind spot when it comes to some players. Laughton does almost all his scoring at even strength, so his overall numbers will never be as sexy as we would like. What he is, is a solid all around player at a good cap hit who can play anywhere in the lineup. He is part of the solution moving forward.

The problem with the Flyers for years now has been their "top" and highest priced players not performing to expectations, not necessarily just production. Yet, this board and many others continue to complain about their "4th liner" or "6/7th defenseman". No team, I repeat NO TEAM loses because they have a bad depth player. The team may have issues when they get to the playoffs or even deeper, but which depth player on the Flyers sucks is the least of their concerns.

This statement is completely untrue!! He CANNOT play anywhere in the lineup! That is the problem. Even the guy that wrote your precious article mentioned this. I'm not saying that they need to get rid of the guy, but I've never understood the praise for this guy either. He's just there year after year. If he is playing higher than fourth line in your lineup than your team seriously lacks forward depth. It's really as simple as that. I mean, there are actually people on here that think this guy should be the next captain. Eh what?

Hey whatever. I read most of what you post and you spouting your comedy routine about people not knowing hockey is hilarious coming out of your pie hole on a daily basis.

I will now go back to either ignoring or laughing at what you post on a daily basis. At least until they get tired of seeing you call people names, ban you, and you come back with yet another alt. Wash, rinse, repeat.

The Flyers number 1 problem is they can't finish chances. They actually generate good scoring chances quite often, they just can't finish them. This is solely due to the fact the Flyers don't have top end talent on their roster or in their system (at least that we are aware of). That is why this draft and possibly next draft are so important for the future of this team. Teams are not going to trade their top-end talent to the Flyers, unless its a situation like what happened to Laine in Winnipeg, and let's face it, he's not the type of player that you want on your team. Thus the best way to obtain top-end talent is to draft high, so we have to hope the Flyers get lucky with the ping pong balls on May 10th, and hope Fletcher convinces Scott to be patient and let the kids play next season.

When have I called people names? I don't make things personal on here. Only the one clown that always makes it personal with me cause his panties are in a bunch that I don't like his Sixers. I may challenge people's knowledge of hockey on here, but I rarely speak out of turn. Sorry your feelings are hurt. I do the eye test when it comes to games. Laughts was invisible after he came back from injury and that was my point. Where did I EVER call you a name? I'll wait.........

Of the 16 playoff teams. Which one is Zac cracking the lineup on?

Zac is an AHL player. Lets say your 4th line was Oscar - Laughton - Zac. Which is more likely:

1. Zac drags that line down.

2. Those 2 can elevate Zac.
