I think if either team is up by 3 or more there is a fight with all the bad blood from the last game but time will tell I guess. I'll hope for one because the Leafs have a huge lead. :-) - Cush29
The Leafs have exactly one guy who can fight - Simmonds - and he's not a good fighter, he's under-sized, and I sincerely hope he doesn't dress, because his skills are gone.
Other than that, I love your plan.
At least the bit about the huge lead. |

The Leafs have Simmonds and Clifford dressing both of whom can and will fight if need be. Simmonds beat the brakes off Maroon last time they fought, I think if need be they are fine. As soon as Bunting is back there is no way both Simmonds and Clifford are in the line up at the same time, plus Spezza needs to draw back in at some point, having depth is a nice problem to have!

The way I see it, is game 1 is the key. If the Leafs can dominate Tampa and win decisively, they can ride the momentum into game 2. It's imperative that they win the first one, so they don't have the pressure for the second game. Losing game 1 probably means a short series and Tampa wins in 5. If Tampa is to lose, they must be defeated in the first round, before they can use their experience to win a 3rd Cup. Also watch for the Caps to lay a beatdown on Florida physically. They may not win that series, but Florida will limp out of it with injuries. That series will go deep. Other eastern winners are the Rangers over Pittsburgh, in 5 and Boston upsetting Carolina in 6 or 7. Boston has always had the psychological edge on the Hurricanes, since they were the Hartford Whalers. They are Carolina's nemesis team, much like Buffalo is Toronto's. |

I heavily troll on the prediction threads, it's part of why I love them so much. My actual opinions are more balanced.

Afternoon nap for us early risers to go to work. It's on ESPN2 in the States. Boston/Carolina is on ESPN for those who have access to the American networks.

I don’t see fights being a big factor. I want our guys to hit their D on the forecheck and our D, especially Muzzin, Boosh and Gio (one on each pairing) to make Tamp forwards very uncomfortable in front of our net.
I’m way less worried about Matthews this series.

You know what would go a long way?
A strong performance from Marner from the get go.
He needs that monkey off his back asap.

It might be an upset but I think Ovi is too beaten up to carry the team this year and Florida is mighty. Florida will do well to come out of that series in a 5 or less and be rested and injury free. |

"If the Leafs lose game 1 it's probably a short series win for Tampa". Let me guess if the Leafs win game 1 it's no big deal for Tampa to storm back right? Such a biased and laughable take.
