This was a very interesting (and surprising to me) comment from Keefe but I like it - a lot for a few reasons.
I feel like it puts the refs and league on notice to some degree by calling out what happens every playoff season with Keefe basically saying 'we finally realize that the rule book isn't the same in the playoffs and it's your fault since you clowns control it so now we will be forced to and are planning for the need to goon it up".
I think it also is putting Tampa on notice that if you want to try and bully us go ahead, Eff around and find out what happens we are ready. Again not what most team's perceive the Leafs as and perhaps will force some second sober thoughts before the dirty play or at least know what you dish out (Tampa) your getting back.
I do very much want to see Vasy get the exact same treatment Campbell does so if Perry does Perry like BS to Soupy someone needs to go do it to Vasy - having Clifford and Simmonds as options and both in tonight give the Leafs the ability to have an expendable piece who can go do that and get tossed.
It says Keefe is ready for a nasty, dirty playoff series and to me that means he has been trying to get his team to the same place. The push back physically when the Leafs got stomped by Tampa was not the same old same old Leafs and I hope he's been drilling it into his team that they need to be ready for every single playoff game to be that nasty and then some. The coach saying it should mean the team knows it and are ready for it.
Proof is in how they play I suppose but I'm looking forward to the game tonight a lot!
Anyone have an over/under on how many fights are in the game tonight? It'll be interesting to see if Fatty Patty Maroon will put his money where his mouth is and drop the mitts or not, you know Wayne Train wants to go him again.

And the best part is the Lightning will be wearing their white shirts for the first two games, so when we bleed all over them, it will really show! |

Which reminds me:
I absolutely franking hate watching Toronto - Tampa Bay games.
It looks like a Leafs scrimmage game.
The franking league should have stepped in and told Tampa to keep black in their jerseys.

Perry needs to get the poop kicked out of him the second he touches campbell or any other top player with a dirty hit ....goes for maroon too , if youre gonna win this series you have to be a tougher team than tampa.... |

OK, I'll throw one up, but I'll make it more league-wide. Tell your Montreal-thread friends they are welcome. |

Or…… this playoffs will be called like every other playoffs. Our guys up front are going to have to power through. Matthews has shown he doesn’t have to stand two feet from the goalie where he is most vulnerable to cross checks to score. If Tampa just wants to clog up the front of the net, fine. That makes it easier for the Leafs to maintain possession and decreases their possession time and scoring time. That trade off works great for the Habs, less so for Tampa.
And Leafs have one guy on each D pairing Boosh, dead Muzzin and Gio who aren’t afraid to use the body/lumber if there’s leeway to do so.
Leafs don’t need to be passive in this kind of series. - Canada Cup
I'm positively suggesting that these playoffs will be called like the playoffs of yesteryear. As silly as it is, the post-season will remain the meathead step-brother of the regular season.
Not saying the Leafs need to be "passive". We will soon find out if this team has added enough manly men to the lineup to make it the next round. |

That's what the first point I noted is, pure gamesmanship but I think there is more than that being done intentionally by Keefe.

I think if either team is up by 3 or more there is a fight with all the bad blood from the last game but time will tell I guess. I'll hope for one because the Leafs have a huge lead. :-)
