I don't hate what I wrote.

A few big shanks - I overestimated the Islanders, I underestimated the Leafs. I thought Tavares was going to fade.

I underestimated Mikheyev. Samsies with Engvall.

I thought Rielly would be gone after this year.

Nailed a lot of the players, though.

I grew up with a friend who was a very good golfer. Like, competed against Mike Weir in provincial championships in high school kinda good.

One day we were playing at the local municipal 9-hole course, and I was swearing or banging my clubs or whatever.

He said something to me I'll never forget: "You don't play this game enough to be frustrated. You'll never be good playing golf a handful of times a year, because it's a touch game. So either make a commitment, or just enjoy being a poop golfer."

For about a quarter of a century, I've been a poop golfer, and enjoyed it.

This year, we finally upped our club membership to include golf. So now I guess I'm committing to becoming a better golfer, and I'm terrified.

make sure they don't charge you for all the divets you leave on the course.

If only there was a way we could magically travel back in time, and see what people said at the very start of the season:

Ah cool
I was right about the leafs finishing 3rd in the conference and about Florida challenging for top two. Wrong about Boston and Tampa.
I was 15 goals off for AM...thought it would take longer to heal the wrist, nope.
1 pt off for marner.
9pts off for willie - he did better
7pts off for JT - he did worse
11pts off for Kerfoot - he did better
15pts off for Spezza - he did worse
13 pts off for Bunting - he did better but I was right he would be the biggest surprise....or at close.
wrong about hoping Dubie signed Foligno.

A shank is like a bladed ball that goes straight right or straight left into the trees
- bryant

Then that was my specialty.
Except at Golden Tee...I rocked that.

Turn your shoulders 90 degrees - until your front shoulder hits your chin - and you will never hit another shank.
- fifty__missions

I will try that next time if I ever get out to golf.

Thanks

I'm focusing on my hip rotation at the moment, so please do not confuse me with additional steps.
- Atomic Wedgie

Your priority should maybe be something a little more basic than that.
Keep your head down.
Don't shift your weight back on your backswing.
Remember hitting straight is way more important than hitting long.

I've been thinking about making a golf net in the backyard actually, just so I can take some full swings while i take breaks during the day

I'm actually quite proud of my Leafs predictions.

My worst one was probably Nylander getting 90 points. Only 10 points off.

This is the one I am working on.

Not enough hip rotation.

Yes. Realistically, this series is a pick'em.

The biggest difference is goaltending. The defense is not nearly the mismatch some make it out to be and the forward depth is similar.

- Aetherial

Yup.

Jack will need to be light out imo.

I’ve got one. They tend to rip easily I find. Also don’t have it pointed at a house lol.

make sure your takeaway goes directly backward along the plane of the swing as well, lifting the club instead is guaranteed outside-in club head path and subsequent slice

I have a shed in the back i'd point it at

i found heavy duty sports netting online, and can add heavy cloth in the target area, should hold up

I actually agree.

I picked Tampa because of how lopsided the goaltending situation looks.

Tampa might have a small edge on defense because Hedman is just great at everything and having one of Victor, McDonagh or Sergachev on each pairing makes them all solid.

- Scabeh

Yeah the top 3 on Tampa look to be better than our top 3
Their 4th line may be better as ours is looking pretty weak. I prefer our Second line and the 3rd line could go either way.

Health is going to be huge. The Leafs have consistently lost at least 1 key pkayer to injury or suspension each playoff series.

then, when you get tired of hitting a small ball, you could kick a bigger ball into the same net or some rubber.

When I played golf, I also had previously played decades of soft/hardball.
My baseball swing bled into my golf and then vice versa.

Had to drop golf.

We had a softball hitting net in the back for the kids.

Early one weekday morning, I was awoken by what sounded like a woman being murdered.

We had trapped a raccoon in the net.

Had to wait hours for the city to send someone to free the trash bandit.

Well I just went to my cabin, lasted about 10 minutes before I turned around and left because of Black Flies.
