I think this team can win this series but if they lose, as long as they were giving it their all, I think I'll be satisfied.
Beating the 2x Champs is no small feat.
I'm just trying to go into each game with a clean palate. Like trying to forget the bad shot you just made in golf - move on and focus at the task in front of you. And hopefully enjoy the ride. - mjones242
The problem with the relentless optimist is that their endless bleating can be tone deaf and irritating.
Certainly, it's less annoying than the ultra negative types who are, for all intents and purposes, sado-masochists.
Having said that, what would sports be without pretending that our opinions are objective because look at all my fancy stats, bro! - mjones242
This is a you problem. If you find it irritating that's your feelings. Don't project them onto others. You shouldn't tell someone to stop enjoying the game/team the way they want to to accommodate your needs. You can ignore those posters should you find it irritating.

Nah. I do think the Leafs can win this series. A lot has to go their way, but it's possible. It's more about removing hope and emotion. As soon as you put too much of that on the line, this team rips your (frank)ing guts out. That's why I'm trying it this way - let's just watch the game, and see what happens. Most importantly to the the Leafers, just:
Don't.
Beat.
Yourselves. - fifty__missions
I takes practice, but eventually you can get to a point where you really do expect them to lose, and you really won't lose much sleep over it.
They have a chance to win it all this year. It is tough to make a valid argument that they don't have a shot at it. Unfortuantely, we have all seen what this team is capable of come playoff time.

Agreed.
Any criticism or skepticism is necessarily equated to pessimism in this forum by some peeps. "How dare you suggest this team will not win! You must not enjoy the sport or the Leafs at all!"

Ya I know, its weird.
Anyway, no excuses for the Leafs team, you wanna be the best, you gotta beat the best...and that starts tonight.
I was hoping we'd face Tampa in the 2nd/3rd round and beat boston in 5 in the first....but that option died days ago.

It IS the best way not to get frustrated by it. - Scabeh
I grew up with a friend who was a very good golfer. Like, competed against Mike Weir in provincial championships in high school kinda good.
One day we were playing at the local municipal 9-hole course, and I was swearing or banging my clubs or whatever.
He said something to me I'll never forget: "You don't play this game enough to be frustrated. You'll never be good playing golf a handful of times a year, because it's a touch game. So either make a commitment, or just enjoy being a poop golfer."
For about a quarter of a century, I've been a poop golfer, and enjoyed it.
This year, we finally upped our club membership to include golf. So now I guess I'm committing to becoming a better golfer, and I'm terrified.

Agreed, I would have liked to see them face Tampa after getting the series win monkey off their back.
On the other hand they are likely going to have to get past 3 of the top 4 teams in the league to make it to the final, so the order probably doesn't matter.

But if they do, the haterz will figure out a way to discount it.

Leafs can beat Tampa and the coast to the cup, I love it.

You're right.. The order doesn't matter.. If they beat Tampa, then I could see them getting through to the Cup final. The biggest challenge for them right now, is themselves..
They are capable of beating any team, the past failures, hopefully, they've learned from it.. So, this is on the Leafs players.. Not on the opponent.

I don’t keep track of who said what, but it seems like the same people who complained the whole offseason carried it through the whole season.
Fire Dubas, trade Marner, trade Willy, fire Keefe, we won’t make the playoffs, weak North. Exhausting.

Get a couple of lessons, get fitted, get a couple more lessons
Leafs pulled the short straw and got matched up against probably the hardest team there is to beat at the moment. Will they do it, who (frank)ing knows. But I'm rooting full out and non stop the whole (frank)ing time no matter what.
(frank) the Lightning, the cocky sons of female doges. Its the Leafs time to shine now boys and girls.... GO LEAFS (frank)ING GO.
