I've heard you admit to being a self-proclaimed Sabres homer, so I'm just going to let you have this one. - buffalofan19

We're not longer anywhere near the dead puck era. - buffalofan19
I think our 7th guy up front is better then a 36 year old andreychuk, and I loved dave as a player
I think our 5th best guy up front is better then a 37 year old gilmour
plus these points from 2021-22 does not take into account the team offensive upside we will get with power playing 20 plus minutes a night |

This is going to sound like I am knocking these guys, and I'm not but let's look at the forward group.
Thompson - 67 points, career high.
Skinner - 62 points, one off his career high (which he hit 3 times)
Olofsson - 49 points, career high
Okposo - 45 points
Tuch - 38 points - let's project it to 63 points (.78 ppg x 82), would be a career high.
That group is not getting you to the playoffs over an 82 game season, even with Hasek in his prime in net. - buffalofan19
Yep, we need another line as good as Tuch, Thompson, Skinner. I assume the Sabres feel Peterka, Quinn player X is that line. If only player X were Bergeron, Malkin, Jonny Hockey, or Kane instead of Krebs, Cozens or Mitts.

Bills trade up for Elam, the dude I wanted the Bills to get and no love for the 3ER on here? Everyone still in shock that Bills drafted a Corner given how much the team allegedly "values" safety? Not one mention? Such Bull poop. Know what the difference is between me and you?

Here's the problem though. You're banking on all of these guys having better seasons than this one, when all but Okposo, who's soon up for his AARP membership, have hit career highs. Someone's going to regress.
This team is going to finish somewhere between negative 50-60 goal differential. A good goaltender drops that by about 25 goals, maybe 30 if you want to be really optimistic and put him in the All-Star game. You still need to make up more of those goals up front.

Whether you like the 3ER or hate the 3ER, you better learn to love the 3ER because i'm the best thing going around here. |

And your expecting a top 6 guy to come in and get at least 40... While somehow helping the D. Highly unrealistic. Stopping the other team from scoring goals should be our primary concern this offseason. |

I think the Marlies can't get more than one point in their last games(?)
And obviously Rochester is a must win.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong. - Powerslave
Rochester must win tonight and Toronto must lose in regulation tomorrow night.

Hawks will trade their whole line of Kane, Debrincat and Strome for 3 of your 4 1sts (not Florida's) over the next 2 years, 3 of your 4 2nds the next two years, Cozens, Peterka, Quinn, and rights to Portillo.
You'll have a line that would score 90-100 goals a season for 4 years assuming the Pegula's fork over about 21 million per year to extend them all. |

I heard Marty Biron try to explain it on the Instigators while driving in the car the other day and my head started hurting. - buffalofan19
It's not difficult. It's based on points percentage. |

I have no clue how this ahl playoffs work
https://theahl.com/22playoffprimer
how rochester is out ranked 6th in their division and bridgeport ranked 6th is in with worse win percentage
same for iowa being out and san diego being in - homiedclown

Ok. Hawks will throw in Murphy, a RD to play along side Power. Price to the Pegulas just went up 4M.

This.
But if you can add a top six forward smartly, I'm all for that, too.
Nino Niederreiter doesn't cost you anything but money. - Powerslave
There are a multitude of quality forwards available in free agency that won't break the bank or hurt the team long term, but if management just wants to add Quinn and Peterka and think that is enough, where is there room for a forward addition? |

Best case scenario tonight:
Sabres/ Vegas lose
Red wings/ Sens/Canucks win
Sabres draft 7th and 15th pre lotto.
Florida getting knocked out round 1 because Bobrovsky canβt stop a beach ball would be nice as well (sorry Ratsreign) - Pegullaville
Florida plays a very entertaining style of hockey that I have a difficult time rooting against.
Being a good team and entertaining is a dream. |

We are, all of us, of the opinion they must/needs pay a real goalie to play at least next season. Can we count that as understood in all posts? - lacaprup
Yes |
