When you can't cash your chances against a great team you're going to find yourself on the losing end. 3 PPs zero goals. 27 shots, zero goals. Bruins 19 shots, 2 goals.

We cannot beat great teams when we play at a severe disadvantage in net every single game.

Goaltending is obvious, but doesn't your prior comment below also indicate that the Sabres are still quite wanting in the area of top quality forward talent, and just running the forward roster back again with the addition of Quinn and Peterka won't be enough?

Elite players are just game breakers. We dominate the first 6 minutes of the period, one good shift by Bergeron and Ratface and it's 1 - 0 Boston.

Pick was ok
Very curious why we felt the need to trade up
Didn’t make much sense

I think if makes perfect sense. They said it was the last first round graded player left. We have “extra” picks this year that won’t make the 53. Trade one to get the best player you can. I hope they trade up again!

Agreed, there was a chance Dallas could have taken him.

It's a fair point, and if we plan on running for the Cup, no doubt we need a Bergeron. But, can one of our young guns become Bergeron? I do believe we could make the 8th seed with no additions beyond goaltender, Quinn, and Peterka but that team, of course, is not winning the cup.

Perhaps, our top end defensemen can make our forwards good enough, but that is not the case yet. But, yeah, imagine that game last night if Tarasenko is on our team. We probably have a 2 - 2 game going into the 3rd and Don doesn't have to grasp at straws looking for an offsides that ends up being a double bench minor.

Looks like we can get a sellout tonight for the boys and their star right winger from 2022-2023: Patty Kane.

If the Blackhawks said the 16th pick and one of Vic, Mitts, Krebs, or Cozens for Kane, which one would you trade away?

Funny little fact, Elam's father Abram during his 6yr career his only pick 6 in his career was against Buffalo and Trent Edward's in 2008

For 3/4 of a year of Kane, because he's likely gone at the TDL?

None.

Just one player like Tarasenko alone would've made that kind of difference last night?

Don't the Bruins have 3 players similar to Tarasenko on one line?

social media pages going crazy about the bills using a 4th round pick to get their guy

there is only so many roster spots on good teams and if they really liked this guy and wanted him more then the other cb's then good for them to ensure they get their guy

They also go way overboard on always wanting to be the smartest person in the room.

Sometimes, simpler is better.

See good player, pay the small added price to get good player.

No reason to overly complicate things.

Looks like the Bill's made a solid pick going C to fill a big need.
Now, what is their biggest positional need? WR? RB?, future S? LB?

Where would you target?

From a birds-eye view, it's technically a bad move (i.e the draft chart, etc.). I get it. However, digging into the details, it's not going to hurt them at all given how their roster is already composed.

Like I said yesterday, the Bills could have forfeited their Round 1 pick completely, and they still would be considered a Super Bowl contender.

Aye, but we have a different team build. In two seasons teams will say, "Don't the Sabres have 4 defensemen like that?" Maybe Tarasenko only makes it 2 - 1. We are talking about a team quite capable of winning the cup in the Bruins. It will never be easy to defeat them as long as they're playing at this level. Tarasenko and Gibson in net, maybe we have a lead after the first period and who knows how it goes?

Edit: But in addition to being great the bruins got great goaltending last night from Linus. That's allowed too. I guess our goal is to match the bruins it's probably not possible to build a better team.

Don't we already have a pretty clear idea of who the core forwards are going forward that are on the team now?

Isn't it clear they need more forwards like Tuch, if not even better?

Isn't there clear room for improvement with the forwards that would greatly help the team long term?

What are you really missing out on if you can make clear upgrades from Mittelstadt and Krebs, for example?

Is it the fear that they might turn out to be slightly better long term?

The next Jonathan Taylor aka Breece Hall is still available. What should Beane offer to trade up to the top of the 2nd for him??

If I were GM and owner, yes, I could use our resources to make a cup roster next season. They don't seem to be interested in that.

I already posted a possible Pat Kane trade. I would 100% trade any young forward we have and the Vegas 1st for him.

I would offer malkin and letang 13 a piece for 1 year. I would offer MAF 10 or more for one year.

I would offer Johnny Hockey a max deal with term.

I would offer Bergeron 39 for three years.

So, you would trade Thompson, Tuch or Krebs for a 33 year old Patrick Kane?
