Yes he was not developed in the sabres system. He was stolen from Chicago! I think we was the 3nd or 4th goalie in their system.

My theory is the pizza delivery guy is actually the ring leader of the gang and he uses the pizza job as a scouting cover. He picked the house for the other two wet bandits and used his presence as a diversion from the obviously low-rent uniform Joe Pesci wore. His presence added a layer of confusion and later provided him an alibi on the night of the robbery as he was "delivering pizzas"

That pizza guy cased the whole damn neighborhood and he got away scot free
