Can't believe that Johnson's been off the team for two years now and there are still some people on here that are so in their feelings that JR made a mistake that they still feel the need to cry about the stats nerds.

Take stats totally out of it. The Penguins as an organization had an unspoken rule of never buying a guy out. They broke that rule just to get rid of Jack Johnson. You're gonna tell me that the guy that was so bad that ownership was willing to go against their managerial values to get him gone by any means necessary didn't actually suck? Get the (frank) out of here.

How do people know of this "unspoken rule" if it's never been spoken of?

They definitely don’t make it easy to follow. I looked into getting the BTN streaming package to watch Michigan but it’s such a mess.

I believe you can watch/stream on ESPN+.

I didn't like Ford vs Ferrari at all and I love pretty much every actor that had a relevant role in that movie. This genre just isn't for me.

I usually am not a racing fan and thought that I'd hate it, but I really, really liked it.

Is that why Grz came out with a +32 (32 GF, 0 GA) at 5v5 against guys like Sidney Crosby, Mika Zibanejad, Ryan Strome, Evgeny Kuznetsov, JG Pageau, Nicklas Backstrom, Casey Cizikas, Claude Giroux, Alex Ovechkin, Jake Guentzel, Chris Kreider

Or are these boys not big enough?

So according to your charts and stats he IS a top pair dman. [ thought plus-minus was overrated stat }. I guess you watched the bruins against the Isles and Caps in the playoffs. And of course you watched them this year against the big boys. Last year he got smoked vs the Isles in the playoffs and they cut his minutes vs the Caps . If you watched them as much as I have you would realize that again your making my point. Stat wise he looks great but stats alone DON'T tell the whole story. According to you and your stats he is a top pair dman. Correct ? So giving up assets and a big contract to get a true top pair left dman [Lindholm ] was another case of a GM not following your astute observation. Any real hockey guy not some chart follower would agree that Grz is no top pair dman. He is good and can contribute to team success when placed in the proper slot. I UNDERSTAND that you need a mix of different style players. And I go by a mix of evaluations. You go by your stats. How many people in your little circle would have Grz top pair ? Even with your all telling stat line.

Notice how you don't share your evaluation of Grz . Since you understand the stats that are to advanced for me is Grz top pair ?

I already voted you the smartest, what else can I do ? I'm just a clueless fan looking for answers from the poster who understand all.

Jack Johnson blows and Gryz is 2nd pair and the Bruins suck! Boom! We gotta game tonight and I'm sick of hearing about Jack (frank)ing Johnson.

If we're talking documentaries,:

Untold: Crimes and Penalties - about the Danbury Trashers (can't make this stuff up!)

Red Penguins - about when the Pittsburgh Penguins bought the Russian National Team in the 90's

Soul on Ice - relevant to us because a portion of it follows Jaden Lind (Pens prospect)

- Beatnic57
Never knew they did a Red Penguins one. I'll have to look for it. Still own one of those jerseys, was always my favorite.

Beat regularly reported that buyouts were never a realistic option because ownership doesn’t believe in it. Ownership never explicitly made any statements about not believing in buyouts so I called it unspoken.

Well they always tried to make a trade instead of buying out and they have been able to do that other than JJ.

Tangential but I firmly believe that there are very few occasions where buyouts help a team. Buying out Johnson was a win for us because he was never getting sat and every second he spent on the ice knee capped the team, but if sully would have just sat him, or even better if the FO had sent him down, that would have been much better than a buyout.

Where are you seeing that? Usually when guys get called up just a couple hours before the game they're not gonna play.

I'm not high on Hallander at all but it would be nice to get a look at literally anyone else in the bottom six.
