The list of sports movies I legitimately think are great might begin and end with Varsity Blues. - Victoro311
I have never seen Varsity Blues. Probably check it now after this endorsement.
So the only NFL season I ever got right into a team and watched their game every Sunday (after they started season 3-0) was the Greatest Show on Turf, the 1999-2000 St. Louis Rams. I watched every one of their games in reg season and them go on to win the Super Bowl.
I really enjoyed American Underdog and that was obviously a big reason why.

Look I'm an eye test over charts guy. I'm not interested in defending Johnson, I was using him because this idiot Wilson is always using his charts and stats to prove a players worth. When Johnson doesn't look bad Mr.Wilson is quiet. Wilson is one of these progressive b.s. artist that actually believe there is no use for any evaluation that is not completely based on analytics. I believe that analytics are a tool. It does not tell the whole story. So my reason for commenting was Wilson didn't have much to say about Johnson his favorite whipping boy when the Avs obviously think he is a NHL player and are increasing his playing time. So its Wilson and his my charts make me smart attitude that gets to me. He scoffs at any physical part of the game and mocks players that play that style. Players that don't pass the stat test are not important to team success. If watching Johnson you think he sucks fine just don't roll out charts and tell me here is prove.
I will give an example using my team. Last year and part of this year I keep hearing
how Grzelcyk and McAvoy are stat wise a top pair among NHL defensemen. All the fancy analytics. But to me Grzelcky is no way a top pair defensemen. The charts show all kind of top stats. But in reality no matter what the completed first pass, zone exit stats say he can't defend against the big boys. He can't kill penalties, he gets pushed around, doesn't hit, can't defend himself. So if you are a strict analytic guy he is top pair. But if your a eye test reality guy no way. He is good but just not big or strong enough to be top pair. So the charts and advanced stats are helpful but it is not the end all that this new progressive genius makes it out to be. Sometimes traditional is smarter. - johnnypie
Is that why Grz came out with a +32 (32 GF, 0 GA) at 5v5 against guys like Sidney Crosby, Mika Zibanejad, Ryan Strome, Evgeny Kuznetsov, JG Pageau, Nicklas Backstrom, Casey Cizikas, Claude Giroux, Alex Ovechkin, Jake Guentzel, Chris Kreider
Or are these boys not big enough?

I’ve heard that was a pretty good movie.
I enjoyed Friday night lights because I played HS football around that time. |

Yeah it depends on definition of “sports movie” but there’s plenty I would watch again. - Feds91Stammer
I guess I’m talking specifically about underdog dramas |

I didn't like Ford vs Ferrari at all and I love pretty much every actor that had a relevant role in that movie. This genre just isn't for me. |

The Senna documentary that is out there on Amazon I believe was great. If you are into cars or racing it's a must watch.
I find I can enjoy almost any sports movie, though I'm more into Documentaries or going back and watching old UFC/Pride/Boxing fights. |

I liked Frozen but any movie will suck when a toddler demands it be played on loop for months straight. |

If we're talking documentaries,:
Untold: Crimes and Penalties - about the Danbury Trashers (can't make this stuff up!)
Red Penguins - about when the Pittsburgh Penguins bought the Russian National Team in the 90's
Soul on Ice - relevant to us because a portion of it follows Jaden Lind (Pens prospect) |

I read it was good. I liked the first. It was a decent movie for what it is but Jim Carrey absolutely killed it. Sonic 2 might he his last movie. |
