The honest problem with JJ is his smarts, when he was young he had skills and that carried him to the NHL. His brain never grew to go with his skills.

I believe there is scientific evidence that animals and humans are suppose to eat with their mouth and breathe through noses, snouts, etc and the use of their mouths for breathing is less efficient at getting air flow to the brain and can actually have fairly significant effects on face, jaw, and brain development if we were to breathe with our mouths from birth to adulthood.

He's being overused. Reirdon just doesn't trust Pettersson, Matheson, or Friedman to do the things Dumo does.

Dumo was the second guy in the crease causing havoc on the ERod goal, Kapanen was the first. That isn't his job and he shouldn't be asked, dare I say pressured, to be in that situation.

Dumoulin can still be a solid defenseman. Taper back his minutes, don't ask him to pinch unless he's 100% certain of gaining control of the puck, and never ask him to join the rush.

Edit: Maybe if we're down two with five minutes to go in the third, he can join the rush. Not in the second period.

I trust the high school hockey method. Put all your best players together on the 1st and second line and ask the rest to not get scored on a bunch.

Schultz started getting a lot of poop here because his last two playoff performances where disasters. And guess what? Schultz's last two seasons he played a ton with Jack Johnson a (frank) ton, especially in the playoffs. In 18/19 he basically exclusively played with Johnson except for the one playoff game Johnson was scratched for Maatta.

2019/2020 top two most common pairing at even strength during regular season:
Marcus Petterson - 62.2%
Jack Johnson - 22.6%

Playoffs:
Jack Johnson - 64.7%
Marcus Petterson - 12.9%

2018/2019 top two most common pairing at even strength during regular season:
Jack Johnson - 76% (!!!!)
Brian Dumoulin - 6.2%
