That much we can agree on. I think they will use him as a chip this summer. Trade a 3rd round pick and use up half the cap space they acquired in the Hamonic move for Dermott. I don't think they intend to use a rookie Dman's ELC to deal with cap issues. Ready or not.

They need to use him as a chip this summer. He's one of the few we have. If they're building from the net out, they'd be blind not to see we have to get bigger, faster and heavier on our D. If they're building around Hughes then Rathbone is superfluous to our needs.

He’ll be in the conversation but Toronto is a deep offensively talented team, plus Matthews only has 38 assists. For a top center that’s laughable. Best goal scorer in the league though.

McDavid is more valuable to his team and the best overall player in the league/world.
