I do miss those 50-60 shots a night against Vegas and St. Louis. The good old days are over . Sigh .

Agree, it’s hard to get over success in the playoffs. Glad we feel the same for once.

In hind sight, yes, this team should have retained Tanev. It's not like it was a no brainer though. Age and injuries were a factor potentially. Didnt work out that way yet. Rathbone/Woo still not in the NHL, Tanev healthy and doing well... they got it wrong so far. No denying it.

All GM’s would love a do over. It’s not quite the same as Lefty’s 3 or 4 mulligans though.

Also we didn't win SFA with Tanev when he was here. Just because a player plays well on a much better team does not mean he will do that with your team. Our list is long of players that have better results once they leave here, even going back to the days in 2013 Willie Mitchell

We already got a turd didn’t need another. At this point I’m just glad for playoffs, hoping for a BOA but both teams need to win a round. Easy to predict not winning the cup as opposed to winning it, doesn’t make you any smarter.

Flames have a decent enough mix to do some damage to be sure. Maybe the WCF is things fall their way but that's a tough grind. Johnny Hockey can't pull his disappearing act in PO's and if Gudbranson or Zadorov have to move up the lineup due to injury look out. A good coach can expose that in line matching. What's up with CGY's 4th line? Will Monahan be a healthy scratch or no? Calgary is playing well but still have gaps/questions in the lineup. Gonna be interesting.

So — playoff hopes are hanging by a thread and now Boeser's injured and Hughes is missing from practice. Sigh.

I have some preliminary thoughts on how Boeser's contract situation could look if we don't end up seeing him again this season, the playoff odds, and Abbotsford making the AHL playoffs, in the new blog:

I think Monahan is done for the rest of the year. Same as Hoglander.

Excellent point which is lost on many here. The play of Tanev Edler and even Stecher to some extent are heavily sheltered due to better rosters than what they would have been given here to work with. Calgary has a well balanced club which helps Tanev immensely but that's how it should be players supporting other with their great play out there. LA is a bit of an anomoly but a damn hard working team getting contributions from all 4 lines. On that club Edler and Stecher aren't logging 25 min a game trying to block shots and be the goalie as well like they did here lol. Different aspects to be sure.

Gudbranson already playing 20 minutes a game so not worried about that, Zadorov should be considered a weapon with the way he hits
Monahans done for the year getting hip surgery on the other one. Agree it will be a grind and any team getting on a roll could do some damage. Where you finish in the standings means sfa in the playoffs. Finding your game when it counts is way more important, that and having the right mix.

Bieksa said the same thing about the Flames this year as he did about MTL last year...they are built for a deep run but so many intangibles need to fall their way. Would love to see a CDN team bust through under Bettman but that will be another battle altogether lol

If We would have signed him in 2011 we win that cup, I wasn’t to happy not signing him
