'Many praised the OEL-Garland deal" - I was one of them, or at least had high hopes. But if we could undo that deal i would at this point. OEL an anchor of a contract. And garlund is meh IMO. Not worth a top 10 pick.
- canucksfan1944

Garland was fine until he got buried in the bottom 6 and Boudreau's doghouse. Hasn't recovered and it's too late now I see Boudreau has him back in the top 6 but the damage has been done team attitude shows it as well. OEL is well..what it is. Had to take a bad contract to rid ourselves of three bad ones if that deal was to be done.

Not quite, but better than Myers, Hunt, OEL, and Poolman
Bennings a good hockey man.

Great move giving up 1 year of 3 crappy contracts , for 5 years of a crappier contract, not to mention 9oa pick

Myers is fine. He's responded well to Shaw. If you're telling me Stetch and Edler are better than him that's ridiculous.

D mobility needs improvement. Hughes is great OEL is fine Myers is up & down then it drops off with only Schenn adding real ruggedness.

Myers is our top 5 on 5 Dman. Not to mention his work on the PK. He's been carrying OEL for the last month and a half.

Agree Myers > Edler Stetcher but not Tanev. I really like Tyler he’s an awesome person and a great guy. Gets way too much criticism here.

You know, I was researching goal scoring over the past six years as Matthew’s is having himself a phenomenal year filling the net. Did you know over the past six seasons Connor McDavid is 4th in goal scoring behind Matthew’s, Ovechkin & Draisaitl? I never really thought of him as a goal scorer but he’s got three 40 goal seasons in the past six years. Who knew…

Comes with the pay grade. He's improved a lot this season. If anything we need more offense from him because OEL isn't generating much.

Tanev obviously still stings a few people in here. Rightfully so. We got nothing to show for losing him to a rival, except the hole in our D that still needs to be filled.

That Chris Tanev guy sure is an excellent defenseman.
Good thing the Canucks moved on from him.

This mqy or may not have been mentioned a few times since it happened.

All good man. When the Flames exit the PO's when they could have had Evander Kane for nothing will you be ok? Predictions on when they choke?

Watched a bit of the TBL-TO game last night. Matthews is having a season to be sure.

The new OV?

That was a mistake 100%. I know people wanted to move on from Edler but in reality....he's about the same as OEL...maybe even better and cheaper and WAY shorter term....

Tanev at 4.5
Edler at 3.5
Total 8M

Or OEL at 7.3 for eternity

I do miss those 50-60 shots a night against Vegas and St. Louis. The good old days are over . Sigh .

We already got a turd didn’t need another. At this point I’m just glad for playoffs, hoping for a BOA but both teams need to win a round. Easy to predict not winning the cup as opposed to winning it, doesn’t make you any smarter.

Definitely think he wants to come back, and that he’s done enough to deserve the opportunity. If there are not enough changes over the summer however, he may not want to take on the monumental task of coaching a team that only plays the last ten minutes of the third period on a regular basis.

Like the players, the organization needs to be developing coaches. No idea how Cull is to work with.

Bruce being cheered on by fans showing love for him. He got incredible results from a team that most here say is terrible... until around TDL at least. He must feel that parts of this team he wasn't satisfied with will be changed if possible. I think his choice to extend won't be based on the team and market. It will come down to security/term and salary/bonus.

Makes it even a worse move by Benning. Easy to say though now that the year is as good as done and the Canucks aren’t going to the dance. Those 2 picks would be nice to have now.

Coaches want to coach, not sure anything else matters to them, Bruce should get a chance but the new management may have someone else already picked, the New Green?

In hind sight, yes, this team should have retained Tanev. It's not like it was a no brainer though. Age and injuries were a factor potentially. Didnt work out that way yet. Rathbone/Woo still not in the NHL, Tanev healthy and doing well... they got it wrong so far. No denying it.
