I really like the narrative change with Boudreau over Green as well. I couldn't stand listening to Green, so I don't know how the players could tolerate it. As far as playoff record...just get us there at some point...PLEASE!
- carsonagenic

Exactly why are we worried about Boudreau's PO record when we need to MAKE the PO's first...

He's fine as a coach for now. Summer moves will hopefully bode well to get this club competing for next season.

Maybe a shrink might help to change the culture what he we been scored on first 9 games in a row again? That sh!t needs to end quickly...

The talk of whom to choose between a top pairing defensemen or a top line forward. The nod usually goes to the forward because there is much less risk. Forwards generally show up much quicker as well.

I don't quite understand how people have Savoie behind Geekie.

Robinson has Nemec at #2.

- manvanfan

I wouldn't have a problem taking Jiricek or Nemec as high as #2. I prefer Jiricek slightly, but his knee injury causes a bit of concern.
I believe both will be playing at World Championships, so that should help determine both of their statuses before the draft.
Unfortunately, the Canucks will doubtfully be able to move up high enough in the draft to get 1 of those 2.

Yet, every off season, including the recent cash-strapped ones, big trades are executed. Teams most always find a way. There are GM's out there that are easy to bend over just like Benning was year after year, giving away high draft picks to teams pushed right up against the cap. Helping them clear cap space to win cups.

True.

Best hope would be that Canucks win a spot and pick 3rd or 4th and one of them is still there. I wouldn't be sad to pick Cooley or Savoie though.

Cooley isn't someone I have had on my radar, so I know very little about him.
Savoie is interesting. But not a top 5 imo.

I am still undecided on Boudreau, although he has been a breath of fresh air, I see some issues around his player usage.
- Reubenkincade

Maybe he gets players he can put to better use this summer. Maybe he gets a tank team. Maybe he gets replaced. Who knows at this point? The foot half in half out trade deadline leaves us nothing to use for speculation.

He was an incredibly refreshing change from Green but, as I mentioned the other day, his playoff record is not encouraging. Not a problem this season and probably next but an issue nonetheless.
- Marwood

No rush to replace him then. Maybe the focus should be on whether he is a good development coach for the young players or not for a season or two.

If Savoie makes it past 5. I'd be hoping the CAncuks are trying real hard to get them there to get him.

Online rankings have been all over the board these days.

Green liked to throw players under the bus when his coaching decisions were most suspect.

Think back to when Burroughs was leading the team in hits and blocked shots under Green. He was playing good at that point as far as his role goes... Green pulls him out of the line up. Team has season worse hits and blocked shots. Green says in post game presser that "the team didn't want it enough and were not willing to hit and block shots". He said that immediately after answering the question of why Burroughs was pulled. He said "they wanted a different look on D tonight".

He gets his different look and then throws the team under the bus for it.

The last regime was an epic embarrassment. Idiots, all of them but you're right, being a better communicator doesn't necessarily mean overall team success.

The floods, I still can't believe Benning used that as an excuse.

More of a poor deflection.

Agreed but I guess that all depends on how the summer pans out. What their direction is and who gets moved out and who is brought in. It will be a very interesting summer.

“Well, of course, I feel responsible,” responded Benning. “I’m the leader of this group. You know, like I said, the moves we made this summer, I would have never envisioned we got off to the start, but we have, now we have to deal with it and we got to figure it out. It’s hard. I’m not gonna sit here and say it’s not hard. It’s really hard. But you know, like, what’s going on in BC right now with the people out in Abbotsford, and, and the floods that they’re dealing with, that’s not easy, either. So this is what we call life.”

That's magnificent. I'm a USHL alum from it's more bush league days. This outdoes anything I ever witnessed.

He’s also has a better winning percentage than any other coach in Canucks history.
What is management debating. Follow the math, they should.

I think part of it has to do with the option in his contract. He has to want to return. He might get a better offer to go elsewhere.

I'd rather have a 100pt team in the regular season and lose in the playoffs learning to take the next step then miss them entirely year after year. I don't want a Leafs style 1st round exit every year though.
