Can we hire Kimmo now, geez talk about a guy who gets it. I know someone mentioned it before but it’s up on broad street hockey for those interested.
- ClaudeFather

Weren’t the Flyers talking about bringing him in the front office in some role right after he retired? I guess that never panned out.

The other guy was saying that.

Kimmo was saying Claude back to Ottawa for family reasons.

- Tomahawk

Ottawa may have some different voices after what happened last night. That organization could see some major changes in the next little while.

The travel through time zones, playing hockey 4 times in a week, and lack of practice time will lead teams to extended losing streaks while on the road
- corduroy

Yep. I believe every team in the League has lost 13 straight on the road this season at some point.

Who knows. If the team is bottom 10 again next season, will Scott’s mind change regarding the direction of the team and Fletcher? Back to back terrible years, the nonsense at the presser a couple months back, if it happens a third year in a row there’s really no talking out of that.

I have thought that Kimmo has more of a coach personality. I don’t know if he has pursued that at all in the lower level here or in Finland. Just my opinion, FWIW, he was developed under a different organization and played on multiple teams. That he played for the Flyer’s isn’t the negative that it is made to be. Knowing someone and getting an opportunity because of who you are is how the world rolls, not just hockey, not just the Flyers. Quality leader. Look at BrindAmour.

if whatever craziness Chuck does this summer doesn't improve the team next year, the hole they're going to need to dig out of will be even deeper.

Everything he said is just common sense. Anybody who isn't toeing the company line or actively trying to save their job would tell you that this team needs to rebuild and play the kids and stop valuing truculence over things that matter more. Hardly a qualification to become GM lol.

It's funny how excited people get all with the idea of turning the team over to the next generation of former Flyers players. Briere, Kimmo... yeah no thanks. How about some actual qualifications and/or track record of success?

- Tomahawk

I said the same thing when some were getting excited about Briere. He may be the next great thing but I have no idea if he is or isn't. No experience to base anything on. To me he's a high level intern. The issue I have is that he's interning with the wrong people. Maybe he's just the next in line to captain the status quo.

Brindy was an NHL assistant coach for 7 years before he finally got the big seat. Talk to me when Kimmo and Briere have anything close to kind of experience and track record.

They won't recognize it. They'll just attempt another "reset". They have no future vision or the ability to properly analyze the past.

Exactly. That brings me to another organizational failure. They haven't groomed any coaches. To the point where they had to keep Yeo in place. There was not a single candidate who could've taken over. That failure has lead to more wasted time where Yeo has been completely unable to move the team in the right direction in any manor. Coaching more for his resume than the future of the team.

I never once suggested Kimmo for the head coaching position. I want him to work with our defense in some capacity, either assistant or development. I didn’t even mention Briere.

Talk to yourself.

Lappy's like that kid who had to repeat 9th grade 4x and they just graduated him out of pity.

Does he (Timonen) live in the States? I thought he owned a team in Finland? Is he involved with the management of that team? Didn't he have some involvement with World Cup Hockey also?

Sami Kapanen is the owner of KalPa. Kimmo and Hartsy have minority slices (8% and 5% respectively). Don't believe Kimmo is part of the day to day.

I thought Kimmo was on the no touch list here since he used to play here?

Don’t we have to go outside of the org since bringing in non flyers is always the right move?

I hate buyouts. With that being said, the buyout is infinitely more acceptable than giving Lindblom away to move JVR.
- MJL

I like lindblom, but the one thing they are going to have is players to backfill for lindblom, at a lower cap hit. If you can package lindblom and JVR (10mil) and get anything back, I am in. That said, I am sure you read my whole post and what I prefer from a strategy standpoint. This was my answer to the keystone cop scenario

I love Kimmos example of playing Yandle on the PP over York… so Yeo is the only who doesn’t get it…

So Hart with the nagging injury down the stretch again. Is it him or he needs to be Gumby to play for the Flyers ?

Have you seen our wingers? Literal ECHL guy playing 15-16 mins last few games. Kasperi is too high quality for us.
