I watched a lot of golf in my 20s when I played more, then it sort of fell off.

But now that I work from home, one of the things that really got me back into is that it's so much more entertaining to watch starting on the thursday and going all the way to sunday. Watching the attrition in the field throughout the tournament makes it much more climactic on Sunday.

- TheMussel

Ya I follow it at work Thursday and Friday, then usually have it on in the background on Saturday’s while doing work around the house. Sunday is when I sit down have a beer and no one bugs me lol

I schedule my work week around masters. I always take the Thursday and Friday off and me and bunch of buddies get together for masters Sunday. It’s kind of like our super bowl.

Im not talking about the CR player but the Canadian was already on the edge having very nearly been given the red earlier. A very little, chippy shoulder nudge was silly in that situation and he should have known better. Of course the CR guy is going to die and the ref and to argue with the VAR guys not to toss him earlier.

I think we can both agree the CR player won’t win the Calder now

I agree that the Canadian player should have known better. I would add that faking is a fairly common strategy in soccer, Costa Rica is a team that employs this strategy. The Candian coach should have made sure his players were better prepared for this. Canadians also played poorly. Not a single (frank)en shot in the first half.

Did you watch the Italy game against North Macedonia? Their goalie fell to the ground, grabbing his arm every time an Italian player came close to him
- PatC80

Don't fans of this sport want that to change? Like, I sincerely don't get it. Is soccer just so big that they can't get a handle on this stuff and figure out how to get appropriate officiating and start carding guys for that behaviour?

They wouldn't do it if it didn't work. And they certainly wouldn't do it if the officials carded them or threw the out of the game for it.

Like when you do a slide tackle and you spike their ankles and take them down, depending on the severity you could get a yellow or red, or possibly just a free kick, right? That's because the play is a penalty (cheating) and/or a degree of dangerous, right? I'm not baiting here - I'm not a huge fan of soccer, so this is my interpretation of this.

But diving is also cheating, so it should basically have the same penalty based on the implied outcome, shouldn't it?

This is what I don't get - it feels like no one really addresses it but everyone complains about it HERE, but Euro fans all seem to feel that it's a part of the game. It's "gamesmanship".

Until the motivation to fake is removed it will continue. Start giving a red card out for obvious faking and maybe it will stop. Otherwise it is a way to gain significant advantage without having to actually do legitimately outplay your opponent.

Honestly, it doesn't matter who the Leafs play in round 1... The only team that really scares me, is the Leafs..
I think they can beat any team in the league if they play their game and get slightly above average goaltending.

Leafs have 6 games vs BOS, TB and FLA.

2 games against the Caps

the other 11 games are against non playoff teams

I want to face Boston more than TB.

You never really want to face the cup champs in the 1st round...

And I just feel a lot more comfortable facing Boston, I think they are the 4th best team in this division.
