Ugh, the leafs are rubbing off on other teams?
Oh no, the league is done for now.

Golf is the best sport to watch, even better to play
Followed by NFL football
Followed by Hockey (82 games is too much)

- TheMussel

Ugh. gross.
Golf is horrible to watch.
Cant stand the NFL at all.

However, both are enjoyable to play. However, rugby over football anyday

Have you watched women's tennis? That and table tennis beat baseball and golf all to hell. Golf, baseball, MMA, NASCAR...when alien archeologists dig up North America they'll either laugh or cry.

To say nothing of in gridiron the guys shoot themselves in the leg and take their clothes off on the field and get health advice from podcasters on acid. Which now that I write that sentence is all in favour of the NFL's entertainment value I guess.

And let's not get started on the inanity that is ice hockey.

- Zezel

Here's the thing. Women's tennis has nothing but sexist appeal for me. I can appreciate that on my own or with other guys, but only after cautiously looking over my shoulder to see who's listening. Women's tennis has the value of some hot girls making hot girl sounds while running around in hot girl clothing. It lost a lot of value when the Internet went high speed and we all discovered Pornhub.

Ignoring that joke and being candid, as a sport, I can't get into tennis. I can wholly appreciate the skill and talent it takes to play at that elite level (a friend of mine was a top-10 ranked player in Canada in his teens, but he blew out his knee; for poops and giggles he showed us some serves and even 20-30 years removed from his elite status, those things were f'n lasers), but it's not a sport I enjoy watching. The same for table tennis. It's literally insane. Like circus-freak nuts with people doing things at a speed that only Connor McDavid finds normal. It's like a sport designed for people with ADHD and OCD at the same time. And when I watch it, I'm like, "Wow. That's super impressive." And then I change the channel.

The best North American sports are skateboarding and snowboarding. The rest of them are basically a joke.
- Zezel

Love snowboarding.

Because they are good sports.
volleyball - awesome...well I prefer to play beach volleyball
Tennis and table tennis are non stop action.
Circket, I dont fully understand...but its like baseball....so thats good.
Golf....well golf sucks. Fun to play once in a blue moon, sucks to watch.

NFL football is one of the worse "sports" to watch...barely any gameplay and its all pomp and fluff off the broadcast production. Boring.

- Fakepartofme

Over the years as friends live their lives and go where life takes them, you all end up pretty geographically separated - and the pandemic has sort of brought my friends and I back together through Zoom and just getting together and watching stupid sports and chatting about it over Zoom. So we'll watch hockey or baseball (none of us, or at least not enough of us are football or basketball fans), but as the night wears on we invariably start watching other crap you find on streaming services or android boxes.

One of our friends sent us a jomboy video on YouTube explaining cricket, and it really helped. It was like a, "So you're a complete idiot but want to know something about cricket; here you go," which helped me greatly!

Only baseball and Basketball really make the cut internationally.
NFL is garbage.

- Fakepartofme

NFL are the best athletes

The key is to PVR the games and skip through all the time outs, reviews, commercials and injuries. Can watch a game in around 45 minsđź‘Ť

What's sickening about that is the replies. This is so normalized in soccer that people feel that a yellow or red card was deserved.

That's insane. Insane!

Look, you want to go down, stumble, make it look a bit worse . . . fine, you're a dink - but going down like they do in soccer should warrant the red card, not the other way around.

I usually try and watch golf almost every Sunday afternoon. It’s my way to wind down the weekend. Plus I get the Sunday scaries and don’t like going anywhere Sunday nights.

I wonder if the new series will bring more viewers in. They are doing a golf version of the F1 formula created by the same guys.

All true but a silly thing for the Canadian to do if that’s the guy already on a yellow that was very nearly a red.

I've seen 80 year old people get hit harder trying to get into or out of the subway and they not only manage to stay on their feet, they don't even turn their heads to admonish the person with whom they've made contact.

Seriously. There's no, "But a silly thing," part there to me. He didn't chuck a shoulder into him. He didn't even go out of his way to hit him.

Now I can female dog all I want and nothing is going to change - but it's why there are a large number of people who just can't get into it as a sport. It's just . . it's more than embarrassing. It's frustrating to me that the diving and flopping works. It's frustrating to me that those idiots aren't penalized when it's so pathetic and obvious.

The ironic thing is that I don't actually mind embellishment. Refs are crappy in all sports and sometimes they need a bit of a visual cue to recognize a high stick, a hook, etc. But flopping around like you've got jalapeno juice in your eyes is beyond the pale.

I watched a lot of golf in my 20s when I played more, then it sort of fell off.

But now that I work from home, one of the things that really got me back into is that it's so much more entertaining to watch starting on the thursday and going all the way to sunday. Watching the attrition in the field throughout the tournament makes it much more climactic on Sunday.

diving and embellishment is part of soccer, it's hard for the referees to spot a dive though..
Players are running at top speed, if a defenders foot clips another player, then that player is going to fall. When your running at a quick pace and you're path is impeded, it's hard to keep your balance..

Now, in the case of the Costa Rican player, yeah, that was a dive... Nothing else

Im not talking about the CR player but the Canadian was already on the edge having very nearly been given the red earlier. A very little, chippy shoulder nudge was silly in that situation and he should have known better. Of course the CR guy is going to die and the ref and to argue with the VAR guys not to toss him earlier.

I think we can both agree the CR player won’t win the Calder now

Did you watch the Italy game against North Macedonia? Their goalie fell to the ground, grabbing his arm every time an Italian player came close to him
