I believe I probably did say that but that's not the main reason in my opinion. I believe that the GM knows that his job is on the line. He knows that Braun was moved. Ellis is a question mark and if he moved Ristolainen. He would've had to completely rebuild the right side of his defense if Ellis can't rebound. So I think it was a safety valve more than anything. Knowing that next year if the team starts out slow, he's probably gone. Not willing to risk going into the off season with that staring at him. In essence we have a team and a GM who put themselves into a position of having to make moves rather than being very selective and making the right moves.

Dunno... I'm not sure that Fletch has any reason to fear for his job. Two consecutive disastrous seasons and he still has Scott and Clarke out there making excuses for him. Clarke is even trying to trace blame all the way back to Hexy, lol.

The way they keep circling the wagons would suggest that nobody's job is in jeopardy. Comcast is apathetic, Scott's safe, and Scott prefers to keep working with Clarke and Fletch.

Fletch prefers to work collaboratively, so he's likely at the mercy of the strongest opinions around him. And we know that Risto is exactly the kind of dman that Clarke would have gone after, and we know he laments how "soft" the league and the team have become over the years.

TL;DR Chuck is safe, he thinks Risto is terrific, so he locked him up.

Respectfully, Lacycnski was annually discussed as a potential Hobey Baker candidate every year following his freshman year. He CAN kill penalties, make plays, score and not be a defensive liability (not saying Mac is). Injuries have hampered him but leadership should be finding every way they can to get him back into a NHL lineup to see what we really have.
- juiced

I’m sure he can do all of those things but do I believe Lacycnski will get called up and get the role some expect. I doubt it.

Yeah, likely he couldn't come close to recouping what he paid, so he gave in to the sunk cost fallacy and just doubled down. I'm sure he really believes that once Ellis comes back that RR's play will get better. Just like he believes the Flyers are just two pieces away when healthy lol.

Fletcher strikes me as when he is with his GM peers they shoot spitballs at him and tape kick me signs on his back.

Say hello to Ben Chiarot. After one of Ivan/Sanheim are moved. If not both.

His job isnt in jeopardy imo as well.

The country club will only deal with losing for so long. If the team staggers next season, I think Fletcher is gone. The next member in waiting will step in. I think the injuries have bought him some time.

In this case, Chuck isn't your normal country club member. He's like a son to Clarke. I think Chuck is safe as long as Scott is willing to keep hearing Bob Clarke make excuses for him. Even with Danny going to night school lol.

So you reply to this post, but not the ones where I'm trying to explain the stats to you?

Just like he ignored the request to respond to the 7 posts of Charlie OConnor evaluating Fletcher and the Risto extension, the analytics on Risto and the apparent indication that Fletcher ignored the "great" and added to analytic depart and the higher ups infatuation with RR

Fletcher will not be fired, he maybe promoted to a higher position and someone else becomes the GM but he will not be fired.

He is not the only issue with this team but he sure isn’t part of the solution either. So many layers on this team and management need to be changed.

Since we are back to our daily bashing of RR......name one coach that RR has had that was a good coach? Good coaches put players in a position to succeed with their skill set. Mind you i would like RR more for $1M less. But he is going to be here for a few years, so this daily RR talk gets old fast.

Who would MJL have targeted instead of Risto?

How about D’Angelo?

Thanks for coming out today. The Flyers are proud to announce our newest mascot, Nitty!! So now the Flyers have the best of both worlds, Nitty and Gritty. Things couldn't be more $hitty.

I find it a little hard to believe some coach/GM what have you, didn't think they could try and work with him.

You see in the NFL with QB who struggle but there is always a coach or coordinator who thinks they can fix them.

Again, if the return was poor, why bother moving him?

Here's a link to TopDownHockey's WAR model for the current season for all dmen who've played 1000+ mins at ES (it's the same model you see in all the Jfresh player cards on twitter):

https://public.tableau.co...ckey/viz/shared/MCK3JB4D3

You can sort each column to see where Sanheim and Risto stack up to their peers in the model. Sanheim is high up in even strength offense and defense WAR. Risto is not.

- Tomahawk

Thank you for this link. I looked it over and Sanheim is really up their in even strength offense (EVO) Wins above replacement (WAR). Sanheim is above Adam Fox, Chris Letang, Zach Werensky, Miro Heiskanen, Alex Pietrangelo and CHarlie McAvoy just to name a few. BTW Risto is actually above 0 which I was surprised at.

Now ask yourself, what the hell does this mean? Is this metric trying to tell me that Sanheim is a better player than any of these defenseman mentioned? When you watch Sanheim play, do you sit there and say "Wow, that Sanheim, he is one the great defenseman in this game!"? The fact that he is higher than Risto in terms of offense actually makes sense to me since Sanheim is much more involved in the offense this season than Risto has been. If fact if you can even find the formula for WAR I would like to see it, I couldn't find it anywhere other than an explanation of what WAR is, how its used and some of the data it considers. WAR forumulas also vary from site to site, i.e. there are more than one WAR formulas.

So in the end, I am not sure what to draw from this data but given the players that are lower than Sanheim, I can tell you its not much if anything.
