When you are relying on Motte and Hamonic to be your hard to play against guys then there are a lot bigger issues with this team.
I think most of the fans here have to take off their blinders and quit getting mesmerized by how flashy a player appears to them, or some stupid fucken analytic number that makes some player fantastic.

I think a priority has to be trying to reshape the D and a Righty C. You're right though, not easy with the flat cap. We have to luck out with moving more salary. The following season some of it will happen naturally with bonuses and buyouts off the books.

IMHO Bennings obsession with getting OEL really screwed us both short term and in the long run.

He was fighting for his job. He could care less about 4 years down the road. I had that trade pegged right down to every player and a pick a month before it became reality

The best thing they can do probably now is ride out Myers for two more years and draft well.

I have been saying that about Motte for two years now. If he is your top bottom line guy then you have issues. Highmore also.

The recent poor homestand made them easy decisions. This is not a consistent hockey club. They had a nice stretch under Boudreau but not sustainable over 82 games imo.

Ya, I know you have and I don't disagree with that. Some get offend as soon as anyone mentions getting some physical players that can play on the top 2 lines, because the team is just loaded with talent, or it takes away from a young player to get gifted icetime on the top 6.

Pretty sure most were just so happy to see that clown Benning gone they didn't care who took over, I know I didn't, but Rutherford was very far down my list of potential people.
I see so many things wrong with this organization that I can see why Rutherford wanted so many AGM's and front office people, this organization is a mess.
I would like to place the blame on Benning, but ultimately it has a lot to do with ownership and Benning.

Hamonic's sweet 24 games and 30 hits, and Motte's 14 minutes a game really made the Canucks that much tougher? Dermott hits about the same amount as Hamonic.

Don't think this TDL was about a short-term or immediate fix for the team, even though many people wanted it to be.

VP has 10 goals in his rookie season . He should be playing with Lammikko and maybe Hoglander much like Burrows and Kesler started. Canucks need more and better top players.

I said last year Podz will be a top 6 guy. Not because he is a super skilled player but because his competition was Loui Jake or Roussel .

They still need to fix that.

I'm pretty invested in my hockey pool so I watch a ton of other teams, every day. The entertainment value of the Canucks compared to other teams is so far and away from being similar it's just sad.

Nashville isn't even a top contender but there skill, speed and most of all their tenacity is night and day. Their forwards crash and bang, they're crowd is a ruckus bunch, great music, great energy, leading the league in fights

Other teams fight, literally, scratch and claw to win games.

Watching other teams accumulate draft picks at will while we head into another draft without a 2nd round pick.


Pettersson puts the puck in the net after the whistle and just accepts a speed-bagging from Dylan Larkin. Bo and Boeser are too quiet and monotone. Hughes is small and weak. Ekman-larsson desperately trying to own up to his massive contract and failing. No size or toughness in the forward core whatsoever. No speed. No team tenacity. Horrible arena atmosphere, horrible music. AHL defenders, no prospects, struggling rookies in the NHL, in no Man's Land looking to draft 12th-16th, mediocre AHL squad, cap strapped, extremely tough decisions ahead. "Top young players" struggling and/or injured. Basically everything is negative in my eyes right now. This team is just a bunch of scrap pieces thrown together in hopes of lucking out into an 8th playoff seed only to get dusted immediately. This team isn't any good.
