Leafs did do that and saved them 300K lol. Hopefully the future considerations was please consider taking Mrazek from us - Santo_44
That was the future considerations for the Lybushkin trade.
I'm saying we need to do that 22 more times. |

The Leafs shouldn't* need Vezina quality goaltending to advance. They just need competent goaltending.
Forsberg, Varlamov (yes, would be a stretch to fit him in as he has term), Stolarz, Halak, etc. are all (potentially) competent options.
* or maybe this team does require Vezina goaltending? 🤷 - mjones242
Aside from Forsberg having just resigned in Ottawa, I don't think any of the available names would be any better with the porous defense we've been subjecting the goalies to. Ideally this is where Gio stablizes the D and allows the actual bottom tier players to play against bottom tier competition and not be elevated to play against competition they're not ready to face.
I still question how long Campbell was actually hurting. Longer than it was insinuated is my thinking. He has a career of decent numbers after 2017. He's been good to excellent here until around January.
We stop letting talented guys stand by the net with impunity or giving talented guys all the time and space in the world and our goalies should respond with some solid play.

They just extended Vejmelka 2.75per x 3 years
It looks like they have about 39.75m in cap for the 22/23 season with 5 UFA spots to fill and 5 RFA's. Plus 4 UFA's coming off Injure reserve.
Looks like they'll make it.
I hope they claim Mrazek...but the cash value could be a concern. - Fakepartofme
They’ll likely going to continue to go after the top picks for a couple more years so they might see Mrazek as a valid expenditure lol |

Possibly.
But it’s something not many teams will do for them. ever.
At least in time period. |

He was the ole Freddy in a clutch game against the Leafs. - bixll
Oh well, let’s see how we fare out in clutch games without him.
So far 0-3 in clinching games without.

Make the cap floor? How? - Santo_44
They'll have 12 roster spots to fill and 20m to get to cap floor, with Lawson Crousse to resign (if not traded). He could get a boost to 3.5 - 4m.
Again, I hope they do the leafs a favour and pick up mrazek.
We'll see |

If he' traded and cap is retained this year, sure. But I doubt Arizona is willing to pay him 4m cash for the next two seasons.
A buy out is horrible as it handcuffs the cap. If he's bought out just prior to the 2022/23 season its a cap hit of:
Year 1 - 1.03m
Year 2 - 0.83m
Year 3 and 4 - 1.43m - Fakepartofme
Ya, agreed. Purely wishful thinking at this point. |

Okay 3.5-4M is reaching imo.
20M is a lot for a rebuilding team. There aren’t many players worth the cap hit that are signing there next season. A lot of uncertainty as well. |

Yup, and if it requires some retention, I think Dubas would still do it up to about $1M.
Then Mrazek will go put up Vezina numbers in the desert. |

He's on pace for 45pts, making 1.5m.
3m is not unreasonable...for the yotes....they could bump up to 3.5m |
