Forsberg resigned in Ottawa.
Tsn reporting Ottawa never really made him available to trade. Would explain why the leafs didn't go for him. |

You've watched Arizona games regularly in previous years? - Zezel
Not really no.
|
|
|

If he' traded and cap is retained this year, sure. But I doubt Arizona is willing to pay him 4m cash for the next two seasons.
A buy out is horrible as it handcuffs the cap. If he's bought out just prior to the 2022/23 season its a cap hit of:
Year 1 - 1.03m
Year 2 - 0.83m
Year 3 and 4 - 1.43m - Fakepartofme
Arizona has so much dead money on the books these days, why wouldn't they be into bad money on the roster? Paying money to players to play is a better look than paying it to not play. |

Arizona needs to fill 35 million of cap. They are playing in a university rink. They traded away their only other NHL goalie yesterday. I don’t think it’s far fetched that they pick up Mrazek today. |

They are the prime target to acquire Weber during the offseason.
His 7.8 cap hit and his 1M salary makes him the perfect add so they can reach the cap floor.

I agree, but it doesn't exactly fill me with optimism. - Atomic Wedgie
What am I, your (frank)ing therapist? Campbell has been good more than he’s been bad as a Leaf so hopefully the Covid break and injury is evidence of a temporary problem. It’s been nice to have even decent goaltending lately so I am hopeful, especially with a significant defensive upgrade.
But, no real alternative approaches on the goalie front. |

Kent Hughes the actual Habs GM and Pierre Lebrun said so since last week.
I'd trust them before anyone else. - Scabeh

We need to trade for every single one of their AHL players, and then let them continue to play for the Arizona AHL team. |

Good on Forsberg for finding his game and earning a nice little contract (2.75M x 3). |

Plus they signed an extension with Vejmelka, 3 years 2.75 per. |

Depends on the GM.
So far, nothing that Hughes said was a lie.
Bergevin on the other hand, was spewing bullpoop all over the place since day one.

Pretty sure future considerations was actually "past" considerations (e.g. taking Nick Ritchie). |

7 points in 11 games for Ritchie since joining Arizona.
They'll probably flip him next year for more assets.

OEL’s 990K?
What about Kuempers salary retention(1M)
Beagle, Rousell, Jaskin, Erikson, Stralman, Kessel(28.3M)
All that cap is coming off the books.
Oh but Ritchie and OEL’s retention replaces 3.4M of that. Yay |

Regular season Andersen was never the issue, it was his penchant for letting in bad goals in high pressure games. Ill judge him by that in Carolina, way too early to give him a pass.

We didn’t know Mrazek was going to crap out at the time. It might have been an extra payment on the Ritchie deal. It could have been doing Arizona a solid for a different potential trade |

They just extended Vejmelka 2.75per x 3 years
It looks like they have about 39.75m in cap for the 22/23 season with 5 UFA spots to fill and 5 RFA's. Plus 4 UFA's coming off Injure reserve.
Looks like they'll make it.
I hope they claim Mrazek...but the cash value could be a concern.
