That’s my take as well. Campbell doesn’t play a quiet style but the Gio will help to settle the D down. Still he cannot nake everyone else play more responsibly. That’s tge challenge. Gio can log good minutes though. - Nighthawk
You’ve got it backwards. Defensive play has been ok but goalkeeping has been awful. |

21 games to go.

There's gotta be something more in goal, no?
Campbell, Kallgren, or 32 year old that's played 9 career games and hasn't seen an NHL puck in 5 years. 🤔 |

Disagree a bit.
Tons of odd man rushes on the net, multiple lost coverages, poor passes…. I think the iffy defensive play is what has made the goalies play so desperately. Hence why the rookie goalies have looked the best… made the leafs D play more responsibly. Hoping the Gio addition will help smarten the D up tbh |

It would be kewl if Muzzin could return from the dead and have Gio and Muzzin going into the play-muthabozakin'-offs.

I think you both honestly have pretty decent points. Think it likely is a bit of both really, each affecting the other.

I’m hoping Giordano makes the D just more stable and consistent which should make life easier on the goalie.
Hell I’m willing to bet that Gio is the kind of vet that can calm his goalie down mid game as well. He won’t be wearing the C here but that’s not gonna change who he is nor his leadership capabilities on the ice. |

well lets face it there top 5 of Reilly, Brodie, Muzz, Boosh, and Gio is a lot better than having Holl as a #4 and Dermott as a 5-6 like it was at the start of the year. I think out d is far better and should be stronger now.

Not to mention letting Muzzin play bottom pairing minutes when he comes off the LTIR will help get his confidence back up
Not sure who will be paired with him.. Sandin has played that side before and he’s the D man on the 2nd PP unit so it could be him. Guess it will depend on if Gio is PP worthy or not… had 8 assists with Seattle on the PP so far this year |

You forgot Giordano, so scratch Pilotte. - Atomic Wedgie
Pilote (one t - calling the spelling narcs on you) stays, scratch Carlyle - as Prock correctly points out, Randy won the Norris after being traded away from the Leafs, so he technically never played for the Leafs as a Norris winner.

Honestly, it should be pretty steady.
Rielly - Russian Bear
Gio - Brodie
Muzzin - Holl/Sandin (Holl gets in first I think based on history but you never know)

It's like today was trade deadline day as all the low end depth deals filter through tonight.
At least for the media, they have a LOT of filler to talk about with all these moves during the morning. |

My only concern is easing Muzzin into the games again. I'd be fine with that if Muzzin can play those minutes.
Gio takes Muzzin off some of the PP time he was on. I think I saw some of it? And maybe Gio can take some PK time for Muzzin too?

The big thing here is if Giordano can take on the d man roll on the 2nd PP. Hopefully he can under Keefe’s style, if not tho maybe keeping Muzzin Sandin as the bottom pairing will be necessary. Thankfully Sandin played some games last year on Rielly’s right so I believe he would be able to handle it on the bottom pairing with a partner like Muzzin. |

I mentioned the idea of a Muzzin Rielly pairing before but I was reminded that it was tried quite a bit and those two simply don’t mesh well with each other. |

I think Gio can but Sandin can if need be.

Liljegren playing better than both and not even an honourable mention? |

To be fair, I don't even know which side he plays. I assume the left? So he's on the depth chart.
