Hopefully gio signs another year.

Blackwell is UFA.
I'll bet Gio re-signs for cheap. |

Would have fine with no big trades.
Hopefully gio signs for 1.5m next season. |

I just don't think he's needed on the leafs. They should look for a better depth guy instead of Holl - matt1337
Willing to bet that until Muzzin is healthy they’d never even consider it.
Rielly Lyubushkin
Giordano Brodie
Sandin Holl
Liljegren
And Liljegren will be plunked in here and there and not just for Holl. |

Two questions come to mind:
1. When Muzzin's back, do you sit Sandin or Holl?
2. Can Boosh play big mins on the top pair? I like him with Rielly as he can be a safety net, but... |

Wasn't what you and I were thinking but it could be worse? No firsts were given up. Dubas has brought in 2 dmen now, shipped out Dermott for a 3rd and brought in Blackwell.
Shored up a bit and fixed the hole I thought he would fix. The hole being defense.

Still got our first and all of our prospects. Very happy with what Kyle and team accomplished today. Got Blackwell to boot.
Said earlier, was happy to stay put rather than overpay. And we didn't |

I think Holl gets first crack with Muzzin on the bottom pair and maybe you need to change it up and put Brodie with Rielly should the Bear stumble a bit.

I said it a couple days ago, Dubas doesn't like moving his every night players during the season. Kapanen and Johnsson were both moved after the season IIRC.
Ritchie and Dermott were both fringe guys way down the depth charts.

Still plenty of cap space to play with if Dubas decided to make another splash. |

Still have hope Holl is replaced with a cheaper option who can hockey by end of tomorrow, and the extra money finds its way to an upgrade somewhere else. Not holding my breath though. |

Agreed.
I think Holl is a perfectly fine 3rd pairing guy. And with Muzzin having a down year, I'm happy with him getting some reduced minutes and leaning on him less. |

Yeah... either he gets lynched by his own Oligarchs (or the Generals who are told to press the button) or he never, ever leaves Russia. His actions ARE war crimes and he won't have diplomatic immunity to that.

I’ll start with 2… he’s done a good job so far so might as well keep rolling with it. Giordano and Brodie were long time partners so it’s safe to say they gel like crazy and only a fool would break up that pair if they take off right where they used to be.
As for 1… depends on if Giordano can take on the 2nd PP role. If he’s uncomfortable doing it under the leafs system they need to keep Sandin on the roster. He proved last year he can play the right side since that’s where he was played with Rielly last spring. If Giordano can do it tho Keefe just needs to role with whoever seems to mesh with Muzzin the best on the 3rd pair. |

Definitely agree Gio + Brodie pair should be a lock.
Per PP2, Gio has been the PP1 QB for the Kraken so I think he can handle PP2 with the Buds. |

I put Brodie back with Rielly. I think his steadiness frees up Rielly to do more offensively. Boosh has been better than I expected but Brodie is better against the rush and much better dealing with 2 on 1s which will happen with Rielly.
Gio with Holl Boosh and Sandin or Muzzin with Holl depending on Muzzin’s muffin |

I'd prefer they get someone more physical and can clear the front of the net. Holl looks lost at times in his own zone. |

I don't mind the Gio trade at all.
Only prob I have is his lack of experience in the playoffs in which Matthews and Marner have more in a lot fewer years. I'm hoping he is playoff hungry going in and goes for broke like its one of his last chances at a sniff. |

It’ll be his fellow spies. They can do poop in secret. Stuff coming out of Ukraine today is even worse - tanks firing point blank into old folks homes, moving thousands of people into camps in distant parts of Russia. They can’t win the war, they can only destroy. |

Also hinges that Gio fits in well and plays well. No one seems to think it'll be an issue so I hope it's all good.
Does give some PP options as well on the second unit if they want to give him some of those minutes.
