Hi, I'm here.

I don't know a lot about Seattle. Seen them play a few times. Obviously vs the Canucks and other periods here and there.

There was a discussion about Vince Dunn earlier today though.

Come, hang out. This is like a neutral blog.

We can talk about Seattle moves, Francis inept with the expansion draft but to be fair, the guy is doing a good job on his first deadline. Well I think so.

Hey!

Talk with Van about Dunn? Interesting. I'd be a bit surprised. He has been okay but is a 5/6 guy. Can score you some goals but also at times not good on the d side of things.

I'd be a bit surprised if Nucks made an acquisition of Dunn.

At this point I think Johansson and Sheahan I could see possible still getting moved but not much more.

Maybe they aren't trading them? There has been a LOT of picks traded but not a lot of prospects. Leafs didn't even give one up in their deal.

You don't want other teams prospects too often. Jim Benning always did and normally it wasn't all that good.

Yeah kinda nice neutral grounds.

I do agree I think he is getting things done and doing a good job of firesale for the future here. I do think it will also depend on if he can nab some prospects and such here too. Still gotta play out the stretch here and don't think he can do a whole lot more.

Agree there but with it being an expansion team you do need some bodies. Moving out a lot and they need some bodies still. Taking a chance while loading up on draft picks isn't a bad idea. Just have to be choosey

Not so much about acquiring Dunn but in relation to Dermott and Dunn being a bit similar.

An offensive D man that isn't great defensively as you said that when give added responsibility didn't do too well.

I would have done Appleton for a 4th. That's a steal for Wpg.

Soucy for Poolman?

Fair point.

I think getting a guy like Mason Marchment from the leafs as Florida did (or whoever did) isn't so bad. There's guys on good teams who are kind of buried.

As Roadrunner said, need some bodies too. Not just picks.

I guess I'm just saying need some balance.

A bit surprised that Seattle hasn't gone after more college and CHL free agents. With all the picks coming though, the 50 man roster will fill up easily. More college and Euro draft picks gives Seattle a couple extra years over CHL players though.

Soucy is definitely a Hakstol guy so not sure I see him moving. Was said Oilers were interested but don't see them moving him.

I would say comparing Dunn and Dermott? Dermott is better defensively but Dunn would give you more offence. Dermott I think may be able to grow into a decent 5/6 guy with the change of scenery but he stagnated and really think he had peaked where he was at. I don't know but if I had to take a bottom pair guy between the two I would likely go Dermott.

I thought about those two guys being sold off too but man, that's a lot of guys gone at the deadline with 20 games left lol.

Well thinking those two may go... likely call up Lind and True and play them and I had heard they were going to get Beniers in with the big club for a season end look too so not sure there but that helps tide over.

MAYBE Francis pulls a prospect or two as well? Have to see but thinking he will definitely move Johnsson if he can.

I also see Carrick is on the team. He can be called up. Played for the leafs and a few other teams. Might get a chance again.

Seattle needs to find a way to get trotz. He knows how to make get the most out of a bunch of mediocre guys.

Well don't see them making a coaching move. Not yet. Hakstol has a long runway and leash here while Francis puts pieces in place and builds a roster up at this point. I still don't like the hiring in the first place but...

I think year two is going to be a rather large sort of reset of things.

Yeah I mean, Hakstol hasn't been great wherever he's been so I wouldn't think he's a long term fit. Thing is, is he any good at developing kids? That's the real question.

Dermott at his price, I think I would as well. Canucks and Leafs are different teams.

I hope he does well in Van. I wasn't high on getting a 3rd and clearing 3M in cap to spend it on someone who I think is still excess.

I still can't believe David Quinn doesn't have a job in the NHL again.

I get that. Dermott has a bit of upside and I mean, someone's gotta play til the end of the season, right?

Can't throw prospects into a losing culture this season. Might as well let Dermott do it for less than Hamonic.

Yeah not sure there what the Nucks management was thinking other than maybe clear the deck sort of and get some fresh blood in to work around but...

Thing is trade deadline is not really when you build a roster anyways so nothing saying they won't use Dermott in a trade in the offseason or maybe keep him. Who knows.

Canucks have lots of D. Sautner is up. Juulsen. Bowey.

Rathbone is 3rd highest scoring D in the AHL. Probably beats Dermott out next training camp anyways.

Hence the strange move there but yeah definitely better than Dunn I would say so...

Wonder if Francis might toss a package of picks at Van for Motte maybe? Sounded like they were possibly moving him.

I doubt Francis is looking at anything Canuck.

Francis should get rid of Wennberg. Not worth 4.5

Agree there. He has been very dissapointing BUT at 4.5 who is going to take him? Not sure you are going to get a taker wanting him at that cost given his play. At this point might as well just hang on to him and ride him out for now.
