Chris Kelly has been outstanding in Boston. Luke Richardson is loved in Montreal for what he has done with that defense. - PuckPix

Last night’s game was a breaking point for me. I have been frustrated at times watching this team but last night was another level. Right from the opening puck drop, the team was slow and lacked any extra effort. The only player that seemed to want to get anything going was Brady. Which is something you want to see in your captain.
DJ has lost the room clearly. The same mistakes are happening over and over. There is very little line or game plan adjustments during games. It’s boggles my mind at how bad the defense continues to be. DJ tried to blame it on the offence, but when you score 3+ goals during the majority of your losses of late, it’s clearly team defense. Just a total lack of accountability.
Watching Branstrom play last night made me annoyed with Dorion. The kid is close to a bust as you’re going to get. While some of this is the organizations’ fault, he has not exactly taken the opportunities given to him this year as was the case last night. Time to cut your losses, especially seeing as you want to give Sanderson a decent shot at success. Frustrating to see Montreal get Suzuki and Tatar for a lesser player in Pacioretty then what Dorion got for Mark Stone.
This team should be showing signs of turning a corner, but the results continue to be the same year in and year out. Blame it on injuries, but teams should be able to get through those patches. It’s always hilarious how Pinto’s injury is thrown around by DJ and Dorion as a contributing factor to rough times. Kid is just a prospect who looked average in the handful of games he did play. These guys just don’t want to address the fact that this is an AHL roster with a couple of NHL guys kicking around.
To close, I am getting really concerned with Timmy Stu. His play is not anywhere near the level it was at the start of the year. He seems tired and frustrated. He has stopped taking that extra stride on the attack and instead tries to coast or stretch the last stride. As a result, he is going down super easy, and the refs aren’t buying it. The Formenton-Stu-Ennis line has some potential, but Stu doesn’t look totally into it anymore. I don’t know if he is battling an injury the last few weeks or if he is just getting tired of the coach’s system and losing but it’s something to keep an eye on. |

Top 5 pick incoming.
so since we are now doomed to finish in the bottom 3 teams let trade a lot of ufa/rfa for what we can get.
What can we get for j, Brown, Gambrell, Gaudett, Sanford, Tierney, Ennis, Mete? |

Exactly. Fire sale time, sell all the wonky offbrand Biway castaways, bring up the kids, and let them play. Replace Chabot with Dillon Heatherington to make it real official. Jokes aside, this probably means Sanderson gets some top minutes when he joins in |

Likely a slew of 5th round picks?
Tierny is a decent third liner, so, a third for him if we're lucky? |

My breaking point was November. When the season was lost all ready again.
Stutzle is a worry currently. He needs to add 15lbs of muscle this summer
The least interesting thing to me is. The Sens dumping players at trade deadline although neccesary again. |

Does anybody outside of Pierre McGuire actually like Colin White? - AdamFrench
It's not a matter of liking White, so much as understanding that he's been given quite a hard time by Smith, on a team that's loaded to the brim with mediocre depth players. White could obviously be better, but with Batherson out he's clearly the 2nd best RW option right now. Case, in point, he puts up 5pts/6GP when he comes back from injury, where every one of those points comes from scoring plays involving Tkachuk, Stutzle, Norris, and Brown. In fact, White was in on 5/13 goals the team scored during that 6GP stretch, which was 2nd most on the team (Stutzle had 6pts). Yet he's frequently left playing at ES with brick-handed forecheck-specialists like Paul/Sanford.
Remember, this is a team that's now gone 1-8-1 in their last 10GP, and scored 3G or less in regulation in 8 of those games. Smith routinely appears to be more concerned with micro-managing his 3rd/4th lines, and over-using them in ways that costs the teams games, vs. putting together the most effective 1st/2nd lines he can, which are critical to actually winning games. |

I've noticed the same thing with Stutzle. He's not at all the player he was earlier in the season. Is it being coached out of him?
I thought Chabot was playing well until he got injured but overall the team seemed to underperform. I have no idea what anyone sees in Brannstrom and I've said it from the get go - he is not an NHL Dman.
Dorion and Smith both seem to want to pretend that if they want something to be true it will be. If everyone just plays harder everything will be fine. Apparently they believe that it's got nothing to do with skill or strategy.
The scary thing now is for Dorion to try and save his bacon by creating a new proudest day of his life moment either now before the deadline or this summer. |

Exactly. I don't know why some teams fans value their players the way they do sometimes. All those names that were mentioned, nobody wants to give up much for guys who aren't productive. |

I'd still rather have those picks in the system than those guys in the lineup. If you can't get a 7th for one of them, we will need warm bodies to float around the ice. |

Serves to note we should watch out we don't completely hamstring Belleville here - they still are in the playoff race. Taking back some terrible value pending UFAs with a prospect sweetener before the weekend could help some contending teams make trades before the deadline and ensure we don't tank our AHL squad, maybe even improve it. As long as it's nobody with term, of course... Aren't many of those. Schultz in Washington, Murray in Colorado maybe? Those guys aren't doing so well and carry decent cap hits. |

They were saying on the radio that they were wary of having to call up too many guys after the deadline because they really want belleveille to make the playoffs. |

Yeah this makes sense. Sell the farm and you'll need to call guys up. Though technically we could just sign a few unsigned journeymen to 1 year NHL contracts and let them go end of season (like when we signed Hubert Labrie), or snag the inevitable waiver wire guys like Andrej Sekera today. |

Just by getting rid of them for a bag of pucks is good. Frees up roster spots, takes away some of DJs fav toys.

Very fair point plus after the deadline you only have 4 call ups plus emergency calls up due to injuries. I am sure you will see PD make a move or two to also strengthen the BSens

I was at game last night left after two period for 2nd straight game I thought Arizona game was bad but last night's game was brutal... the team has quit.
DJ is out of his depth. His in game adjustments arexalways the same and no hard work alone will not solve this.
He never puts his players in the best position to succeed, he is ruining Stutzle as the kid needs someone yo play with with some offensive IQ not what has right now.
Brainstorm cannot play with Brown and becexpextrd to succeed as we see with Chabot with being paired with Zaitsev Chabot is not effective either.
If they were willing to put Murray and MDZ on waivers and in AHL why not these two as clearly they are not NHL players.
As for Dorion its time for a change. I think he was a good evaluator of amateur talent and has a good record through the draft but as GM his signings have been terrible.
It's just time now enough us enough. I could support more building but no one communicates anymore about what the plan is and we are all just haters. |

If Sanford, Tierney or JBrown are still here after Monday, then PD's job is in a ton of jeopardy, move on from the dead wood that are UFA's. |

I had a few friends who left at 3-1, they said the same as you, the team quit! It has happened far too much this season with DJ. Like you said, this whole mantra, we will work hard and outwork our opponent or drive them through the boards, as their identity is so minor hockey....its laughable. I don't know how many NHL personnel or scouts I have talked too and they said that DJ is literally the joke of so many NHL folks about his excuses or his supposed identity. They even said that a few of them had their pro scout meetings two days ago and that their GM said to them I better never hear our coach say we are going to work hard and outwork our opponent lol, kid you not! People around the league are laughing at Ottawa, we are a joke to many of them. When people stop showing up, which they already are or leaving early like you and others, that is when it's a big problem as fans arent caring anymore.
Like you said, people want to call us haters, heck I would love to have no crap going on with this team but this coach and GM does it to themselves for years now to boot. This garbage wouldn't fly in many markets. The other issue is how so many businesses have been burned by Melnyk, like really bad, they arent even getting the business community support they used to get.

Before the Pinto injury, then covid and all the other stuff, this team was 3-7-1! They were already getting owned. 6-16-1 against non playoff teams this year is a serious problem too. It tells you all you need to know about this coach.
