The conservative and nostalgic side of me hates the idea of trading Dumo but it may be something that could work out. I wouldn’t bet on it though. I really don’t see the other LHD stepping up to do everything he does. There are a lot of little things that he does that most people don’t pay attention to. And Letang having to adapt to a new partner is probably not ideal.

How do you think he does playing middle 6 QOC and minutes? Florida is at a lifecycle stage where they can afford an overpriced 4th liner who does limited things, but does them well.

5+ mill is too much for 4th line mins...and 23 points in 49 games.

We already have a a player making 5.5 mill averaging 4 mins more a game than Horny ...13 points in 31 games this season...

If Horny was still with the Pens with 23 points in 49 games making 5.3 mill per...he'd be getting whipped around here like cream or butter...

Obviously the current change would negate that, but up until now that's far too much to spend on a 3rd pairing dman, so while yes, I agree Horny is too much for what he brings, the Pens greater need is up front.

Horny has double Kaps iHDCF60 at 5v5 despite playing on the 4th line.

Or because he's 4th line? It' easier to hide his age with lower QOC. To me, he looks like an expensive and aging one trick pony, but that one trick (net front) holds up well.

How would you deploy him on the Penguins? Yet, I have a hard time visualizing a line fit with this Penguins team. I don't see him with Sid or Geno, and I don't think Carter line would have enough wheels. Maybe with Blue, but that doesn't solve the middle 6 winger problem.

He plays the 4th most minutes among D though. I know he is technically on the 3rd pair, but his TOI doesn't show it.

Yeah but Matheson and his skating and skill in that sheltered role was really giving us a competitive advantage IMO. I think more so than Horny would in the bottom 6 this season. I agree though, 5M for a 3rd pairing is too much... His bargain bin pricing partner's very low hit helped offset his though

I mean I definitely trust Hex. So if we did get him, I know he has a plan in place. I assume someone would be moving out before we brought him in. Or I expect a package with Chariot and another player coming back
