If Vic gets spun into a 1st + some throwaway stuff that's not bad. |

Is Olofsson a retention to, be surprised if Minny did that for a 1m savings. |

Wild are in a world of hurt, 16 players under contract next year at $71m cap, leaving $10.4m in space to sign 7 players...and have Fiala as a RFA playing at ~0.90 ppg pace.
What does that contract alone equate to?
Can they afford to take on VO? |

Yes please. That gives me a top 6 player for Vic for at least one year. |

They could take on Shea Webers contract and have that $7.8 LTIR cap space to cut down the Suter/Parise issue of $12.7. Fiala is going to be a tough get. They don't have to resign Rask $2.8, also have $5.9 free'd up on d not resigning Goligoski or Benn.
Removing UFA's and taking on LTIR gets them very close to even, so I don't see Fiala being a lay up get, Guerin did learn from Rutherford tho, so who knows. |

I'm guessing he would be 50% retained for this season to allow them to make other moves if they want as Rask is in the minors now and he's effectively $2.8M in dead cap for them for this season.
As for next season, Addison and Rossi would be on the NHL team, which would leave them at 6 defenseman and 11 forwards, so 2 forwards and one defenseman left to sign with roughly $10M in cap space.
Fiala is obviously the big one, but adding Olofsson would mean most of the $10M would likely be eaten up by the 2 of them, although they would only need a depth forward and defenseman with Fiala and Olofsson on the roster. |

Any interest in Joel Eriksson Ek? Seems like a contract they might want to shed. |

They just signed him to that deal last July, I believe after buying out Suter and Parise.
Why would they want to get out of that deal?
If they do want to get out of that deal, why help them?
The likely answer to their cap woes is trading Dumba, as there's been rumors of that for a couple years now. |

That is the problem about trading for Fiala, as he could ARB his way to being a UFA after next season if he wanted to. |

That's the only thing, but I would be hoping he likes playing with the talent he will be and we have the money to bribe a bit. |

One thing I didn't realize is that all NFL teams must be cap compliant by start of league year, 3/16. They're almost 7M over atm. Releasing Beasley gets you within 500k, but then the 52nd contract becomes the 51st, putting you at about 1.2M over. Another contract will need to be released or reformatted to comply. AJ Klein is an obvious release candidate. |

Seems like the easiest big chunk of cash to move relative to performance and lack of trade clauses |

According to Sportrac the Bill's are 3.2m over as Neal's deal doesn't kick in until the 16th |

Beane himself stated they are about 6.6-6.7M over.
I've noticed that spotrac has occasional discrepancies because there's sometimes contract language that is missing or misinterpreted. Mike Ginnitti is occasionally on WGR and the last time he was on, they were talking about a player whom I don't remember, saying how he had some clauses in his contract that was essentially a secret to everyone until that day. Just poop like that. |

logistically makes sense. I'll adopt the yingyang if they trade him anytime soon though.

The easiest big chunk of cash to move that would net the largest return would be Dumba. |

Moving him a year after signing him to a max length deal doesn't seem like it would be a good look on the Wild to players on their own team and around the league. |

If we cut Josh Allen post 6/1 it's only 49M on the cap which honestly isn't a big deal. Just sign Fitz |

No, because on 3/16 that's irrelevant. I do see what you're asking. |
