Tipped has played 54 games in the AHL and has 50 points. - MJL
Is this just a statement lol, were you supporting the acquisition of Tippet? From what I watched when he was with the big club he seemed decent, nothing jumped off the page at you. Think he was on the third line at the time. Ginger fits right in, him and Alison could be brothers. |

Bill, what are your thoughts about Hodgson aside from his discipline issues? He has been scoring a lot at the AHL level, do you think he has the skills to play well at the NHL level?
Thanks - Mmflyersfan
I like him. He has good speed. Hustles. Very heavy shot, although he's rather inaccurate from distance, and he goes to the net. Most of his goals are scored near the net because he's fearless about crashing the net. Initiates contact and is physically strong and tough. He still has room to improve off the puck and with the puck. Plays out of control at times; apart from the three suspensions this season, he'll take some needless penalties and turn over some pucks.
Basically, he entered the pro game as a project and still is to some degree -- a very good natural athlete with good tools who was also extremely raw. Took him a lot of time for him to find what works for him but now he's an effective AHL power forward when he's under control.
He's still presently only on an AHL deal. I could see him maybe getting a two-deal with a small window of being a late-blooming NHL 4th line energy guy or fill-in possibility but there are still improvements needed in his 200-foot game and discipline. At the very least, he's found an identity at the AHL level. Also, when you are big AND you can skate, there's a chance.

He struggled. Ok let him play through it at this point. The phantoms are in what last place or next to last?
Same with sushko. The games are meaningless and let this "kids" play at this juncture. - hello it's me 2050
They are now back in last place. But they were a good week (six points under the playoff cutoff but with three games in hand) away from catching WB/S in the standings and yesterday was a virtual must-win.
Rubtsov didn't look ready to come back. It surprised me a bit that Sushko sat, especially because back in January, Lappy was saying that Ratcliffe and Sushko were working their way to being NHL recall possibilities. Ratcliffe got the call-up and Sushko got, I think, two of the final few days of the Taxi Squad before the NHL dissolved it. |

On the other hand if they continue to dig themselves a hole in the first half, particularly against the better teams, it’s going to be a short postseason. |

Irrelevant. It was simply adding a relevant fact to the conversation. Nothing to do with any interest in the player.

Yeah... that extra 9/10 of one percent of a difference between a 5.8 percent chance of the first pick (6.2 percent 2nd pick) or 6.7 percent to win first pick (7.0 percent for second pick) is worth getting angry over.

Getting some guys back, I doubt we drop in the standings much further. Probably looking at pick 7-9. Frustrating that we are that far back with how bad this season has gone. Hopefully we get a good player. |

Exactly, 23 years old and can't stay in the Florida lineup consistently, sounds like a bust to me, no thanks. Lots of players put up good numbers in the AHL including our friend Frost, it means jack squat at the NHL level. Tippet is the Panther's 4th best prospect, I think the Flyers can do better than that for G. |

Scored with 4 seconds left to tie the game against Boston last night, but somehow Columbus lost in a shootout Wanted them to win for 2 reasons, 1. to stay ahead of the Flyers and 2. because I hate the Bruins and wish with all my heart they never, ever win another game in their existence. |

but that's it with you, isn't it? You never take a stand on anything expect Hextall is a great GM and the Flyers should fire Fletcher. Give a definitive take, should the Flyers want Tippet or can they do better? I gave my take, which is the Flyers can do better. Have some courage and give your opinion. |
