The way I do it is I look at the people who argue nonsensically on a topic in support of "their side" and say to myself "self, you say more than enough dumb things on your own every day. But don't be like that. Just don't". Sometimes it even works

they're good for a laugh but getting into debates with them is useless.

you're better off having healthy debates with the non-laundry crowd because both sides may actually listen.

i'm actually partying with people who voted for trump the first time this upcoming weekend. they're not bumholes about it and they hardly even mention it. we're not "lefties" and they're not "righties" and it's weird how much more gets accomplished when you don't paint an entire group of people with the broad brush of assholery.

Being against US intervention doesn't mean you like Putin or what he's doing (and I personally have no opinion on if they should intervene or not).

They all know the second they go down that road they'll be told to shut the (frank) up by somebody so for the most parts have learned to keep it to their lonely corners of the internet. People get way too invested in something that you get one vote in every few years...it's weird

I don't watch everything he does, but none of what I've seen so far has made me think he's pro-Putin...Just like any other mainstream right-wing person. Seems to me more like a "We're against Russia so the other side must be with them" kinda thing. You know we can all share the same opinion on some subjects, right?
