My source says the Pens are getting things going for a Boeser trade. Doesn't mean it will happen but good thing is that means Hex is willing to add to this team.

Interesting. The issue is how much they give up, because they wouldn't be able to keep him. His qualifying offer is over $7M. I'm sure they can trade his rights, but I'm not sure what kind of return they could get for that in the off-season.

Never know, and I don't know Vancouvers cap situation at this point but what if Ruth took Kap and Zucker OR Kap and Matheson?

Never say never. I think there are trades to be had for all of our mid tier guys if we want them this offseason. It’s just a matter of how well we can minimize returning cap and whether or not Hex has the desire to move some guys. If we went out and got Boeser I doubt it would be with zero avenue to bring him back in mind. I don’t think you pay the price for a high end 25 year old RFA if you didn’t think you could bring him back.

Exactly, and like I said they are working on it, might not even work out. The best thing I took from this info though is that we're at least shopping.

They could definitely make it work. Trade one of the LD, whoever has the best return value without cap coming back. Find a way to move Zucker and hope the return frees at least half his cap and boom, 7+ mill off the books. Now it's not That easy, but it can be done.

Yea I honestly think Ruth would take Kap plus ONE of Math, Petts or Zuck.

But do you keep Boeser over Rust if it came down to it? I know most will disagree with me, but I keep Rust over Boeser.

I don't think Vancouver takes one of our LD, but I do think someone out there would trade for them. The canucks have 15mill tied up in their top 2 LD already.

Pens have also signed Taylor Gauthier, another undrafted FA. I think the Pens attitude is that draft picks are for suckers!

It could also end up being that keeping Rust just isn’t possible since he’s a UFA.

Ones a RFA and one is UFA so it depends on price for me. Money equal I take Rust as well.

If the Pens can afford Boeser they can afford Rust, so in this scenario Rust only goes because he doesn't want to be a Penguin anymore, which obviously is possible, but something tells me if the Pens pay him he stays.

Just never know all the options in play, I thought to myself would they ask about a bigger package deal involving Halak?

I hope not. Halak has been pretty awful this year.

Who the hell was talking about bringing him in then lol
Also was looking at stats on Vancouver and JT Miller is killing it.

Halak would be a great fit. Dude has barely played this year because Demko is a stud.

Can the Pens keep Zucker on LTIR until the playoffs start? Might be able to add a bigger contract with that strategy.

Halak was a good idea for a second, but he's been awful.

DeSmith has played 14 games and Halak has played 12. Almost identical sample size, DeSmith is at .903 and Halak at .883. That's significant.

Hard to tell. He hasn't even started skating yet, but the end of the season is still 8 weeks away...
