This will be an entertaining board the next three weeks, can’t wait for some of the comments. I was thinking that we could swing Gus for Chychrun… - Angotti
That would be nice, i know Chychurn wants to go but i don't see anyone giving up all those assets, I'm sure Yotes are kicking themselves when they didn't approach Bowman before the Seth Jones trade
Maybe we could send Murphy back |

Rainer the hawks still had a lot of money from ticket holders from covid. There are people out there that didn't want this years tickets but they are stuck with them. So next year the hawks figure to take a double hit. And like you, I would love to know the real ticket renewal number. Good luck getting someone to blab that number. - 6628
Great to hear from you and I think the proof of that number won't be a tell until we get to the regular season and they announce 14,636 when the stadium maybe has 10K in it..... |

They brought in everyone and their mother to consult. Did you want them to fire these two, hire new execs, then hire a GM? Gotta be a bit more realistic here. - Chunk
I'm in the camp where Danny, Faulkner and Edzo are as weak a group to evaluate and hire the top hockey mind in an organIzation. You feel that's fine and reasonable. We agree to disagree, Chunk.

I liked what I read Davidson said....he said "rebuild" he also mentioned "3-5 years or however long it will take" and he also said 19/88 will be briefed on what their plan is...
These are all WINS IMO. Now what is Davidson's definition of a rebuild who the hell knows, but at least he wasnt up there slinging crap like they are close or can turn it around quickly. He gave no definitive time table and lets hope he starts putting marks on this organization by the deadline. |

For me personally.......as long what Davidson does isn't forced to help Faulkner pimp tickets and god will....I am 100% ok with. I dont need another decade of fake propaganda like we were led by McEgo.....Davidson puts together the team as best as he sees fit with an internal window of WHEN he FEELS they should be competitive again, and in the meantime Faulkner does whatever she does to sell the fan base and keep $$ flowing to the Wirtz family. I just don't want to see Faulkner press a need to have an immediate winner to do her job (selling tickets) because that 100% contradicts what we were just told by Davidson, and exactly what he has conveyed back to the Wirtz duo. |

If Hagel gets traded......we may see a return of the MODs like that Yetti and the ghost of Eli. That would be entertaining.
IF they do nothing and stand pat, my faith in Davidson rapidly diminishes like a new car being driven off the lot. |

I'd like to see something big- but have this feeling not much will happen.
DeHaan is having a decent year eye-test wise. He looks decent carrying the puck out of the zone and is blocking shots. He still makes errors like that pizza against I think the Habs but he's like 100% better than he was for the past few years. Maybe it's because it's the healthiest he has been. Here's hoping the same for McCabe.
That said, if the recent rest period doesn't scare off suitors, I see DeHaan being moved as our biggest. Also see Carpy being dealt too.

And Danny weighed in saying we have to have a plan and be patient with it. ...... I did not realize this until today but the Hawks have outsourced their analytics and Danny says they are going to build an analytics department.
As you say, who knows, but there was a lot to like from this media thingy.

Yes x 100. Danny and KD saw this up close and personal when the biz side stuck its nose into the hockey side during the McD era. Hopefully they take a hard stand against it if indeed it shows up again.
And to her credit Faulkner, to paraphrase, said the biz side will only do well if the hockey side does. As accomplished as these people are that is just simple common sense but not always practiced. ........

I don't see them doing nothing and like you I'm hoping they are more active than not.
While I kid and there are still some mopey posters on the BOD, I do think collectively it's better than the overall mood of half a dozen or so years ago here...when they were winning.
Other than GP acting out occasionally like the spoiled 5 year old he is there's no reason to have a return of the jack booted thugs (aka Hall Monitors) like Eli. |

Neither did I but I think it goes to show how badly it was time for a change from Bowman regardless of the off ice issues. How they continued to keep that external (analytics) when the game continues to evolve is puzzling.
I am not pro analytics but I do feel a great combination of data with large sets of sample size and a trusted eye from the scouts can work hand in hand. |

Yep, and de Haan has been pretty good on a bad team. Very attractive to a TOR, EDM or a PITT.. But as mentioned he's been healthy and good bet he won't stay that way. ...... I say take a 4th rd pick today instead of waiting for clubs to get desperate in 3 weeks and offer a 2nd or 3rd. Do not bank on de Haan staying healthy to trade.

I guess the only thing I truly worry about is the Rocky Wirtz variable. Here is an owner who took over arguably the worst run professional franchise in the big 4, spent millions to get his brand back on the map "remember that pride is back banner at end of the 2008 season?" and then had a winning product on the ice quickly follow.....now after going through a massive PR nightmare how much patience will he have to sit by and watch a non sold out UC night after night for a few years and hope that all the work he did 20 years ago isnt undone?
I think that's a fair ask.
Hawks have essentially no friends in the media right now, so this is going to be quite the battle to stay relevant on the ice and off it. |

Absolutely amazing the club had no analytics department. Makes much more sense now why they've had trouble evaluating and developing. They came to the arena with 1/2 their brains tied behind their backs.
No doubt there is no silver bullet. In today's game you need analytics, the ability to turn that data into usable info and scouting.

Yeah I think the HS type cliques are a thing of a past and most of can engage and respect opinions even without agreeing to them.
I do miss some of the older posters that i had been engaging with since the Sassone blog on the DH back in 2006 but what can you do?
I hope we see smart moves...for the present and the future. Thats all I can ask for from Davidson. |
