After Coffey there's an argument to be made for Stevens, MAF, Murphy, Barrasso, Kessel and Murray. Yes, Matt Murray. Despite how things ended, he won the Pens two cups as a rookie. That should never go overlooked.

I don't think you can go with Kessel when Stevens is an option. Coke and hookers or not, he was a fantastic fit on that line.

Stevens was one of the best Power Forwards in the NHL until that conky against the Isles and yes, the crack, but Kessel was a special part of this team and had four great years here.

General question, preferably for pre-2005 fans:

I think it's safe to say that the top-4 players in Pens history are Lemeiux, Jagr, Crosby, and Malkin (that's my order, but that group is the top-4). But how about 5 and 6?

Does Letang get it? If so, you have to consider defensemen like Paul Coffey and Larry Murphy who were effective but don't have the tenure of Letang.

For forwards, how about Ron Francis? Kevin Stevens can also make a claim, as can Dupuis and Kunitz.

Does MAF make the list? If any goalie makes it, he's easily the best followed by Barasso.

I would go with Francis (arguably a better all-around 2C than Malkin) and Coffey (2 100+ point seasons and a 93 point season).

5 Is flat out Ronnie Franchise, no question. 6 Is a really tough call because of all the HOF caliber players that were only Pens for 3-4 years. I'd have to go with Kehoe(9 straight seasons with at least 27 goals including a high of 55) or Stevens(averaged 102 points for 4 seasons and was the best power forward in the game before the Pilon incident).

Was a tad more than a conky. Still freaks me out. They sliced him from temple to temple, peeled his face down and had to reconstruct almost everything with metal plates. Was never the same again understandably.

If we're talking strictly Jagr's career here in Pit, Jagr would be my #4 here. Now if we're talking NHL career then yea Jagr is #2 on that list.

Number five is Ron Francis, hands down. The top defensemen as a penguin would be Larry Murphy. If your looking at tenure, Randy Carlyle still our only Norris Trophy winner. Carlyle is definitely below Murph and Coff. Barasso and MAF would be high on the list and you could make an argument for Barasso being ahead of Fluery. No other goalie even comes close.

Fun question. Agree with everyone saying Francis is a no brainer for #5. After that I'm debating Letang's tenure v Coffey's shorter but more dominant run, but think I give the edge to Letang. Stevens at 8 as he was one of the league's best for a few years.

This might be cool as a top 10 list. Jake might make a run at that before he's done.

I'm giving the edge to Letang over Coffey regarding Pens history. Much longer tenure with Pens (closing in on two full decades!), most points for a Penguin D-man all time, most OT points for a D-man in NHL history (all with Pens) and 3 championships with Pens.

Let’s not forget it’s the BEST Penguins…not your FAVORITE Penguins. And I’m not sure what that means…better Pittsburgh Penguin? Better NHLer? Had a better run with the team? It’s a loaded question but a fun question

It’s so weird to me how Murray will be remembered by fans. He’s getting no love and was so key in the back to back cups, especially the 2017 cup.

Yeah, I remember the hit well. It was scary and that was basically the end of his career.

I think you guys have been over-exaggerating how bad Dumo has been this year. He's definitely having some rough games this year, but he's still having decent season.
- Rinosaur

Statistically, Dumo has been JJ bad this year.

I think it's Letang over Coffey personally. Coffey wasn't here long enough doin his thing. Letang has been a stud for like 15 years in Pittsburgh.

Idk how you even consider Coffey top 10 for pens. Dude played 4 seasons in Detroit and I wouldn’t even think to include him in the discussion.

Exactly, now if Jagr is here for more of his career then it's a different story. Or if he would have came back here instead of the flyers(Sheros fault)

What stats are you looking at exactly? Just looking at NST his stats are all slightly above average with the exception of CF% and HDCF% which are all just under 50%. His on ice sv% is the best on the team.
