It seems all can see the issue with how they handle personnel but them, are they really that arrogant and feel like they don't need to change?
- wcorvette

Not all. One poster thinks that playing Frost with better players on the team will damage his confidence. That playing him on a lower line with scrubs will be better for his confidence.

Think about it for a moment. What are the Flyers giving up to trade for Petry? Montreal is a team with cap issues. If they're retaining salary, that increases the cost for the Flyers. You've only addressed half of the situation.
- MJL

Not sure what the Flyers are willing to give up, but it scares me to think they might give up prospects for a 34 year old defenseman with this kind of cap hit. I like Petry but not that much, and I would prefer the Flyers to get younger and build from within verses chasing players like this. Petry's best seasons are behind him, its not what the Flyers need right now unless he comes at the right price and slots into a 4 or 5 position on the defense. My only hope is this is just a rumor in the season of rumors.

An hour ago you were posting that Petry would make a nice addition to the team. You crack me up.

The Flyers can play every veteran they need to play and play Frost at the same time.
- MJL

Has Frost been sent back to the Phantoms? If not, I would think that he will play. I mean, what's the over/under Brassard plays two games in a row?

Yes he would AT THE RIGHT PRICE. Read the entire post, not just the words you selectively like to highlight.

Sitting Frost is ridiculous. He may not be a difference maker, but I'll tell you who else is not a difference maker - a 34 year old has been, not capable of staying healthy. Brassard has no future with the team (most likely not even in the NHL).

Mayhew may have shown more than Frost, but he is a "never was" who has no future with this team (if he does, we are really up poops creek).

Finally, it is classic Flyers thinking, given the heaping pile of crap they ice each night, to think they should be buyers....

He's not playing today and he should be playing today. The spin you tried to give for why doesn't hold water.

If your expectation is that Frost, who is basically an NHL rookie should make other players he plays with better at this point in his career. That expectation is not reasonable. It doesn't matter who has played better. Not in the least. You have a talented player who was a first round pick who missed an entire year of hockey. Frost needs to be better in a lot of areas but the Flyers need to make an investment in the player and put him in the best position to succeed. With the season lost, the Flyers have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Playing players like JVR, Mayhew, and Willman ahead of Frost is malfeasance.
- MJL
Well Willman is also scratched today, so he is not ahead of Frost and he shouldn't be. Mayhew and Ratcliffe have played better than Frost IMO. JVR should be shipped out for a bag of pucks at this point and I don't dispute that ANYONE should get playing time over him.

That's easy....Frost. But he still has to look like a viable NHL player. Good players make other players they play with better. Frost hasn't elevated his play enough when he's been given a chance. I'll ask you a question. Who has played better? Mayhew, Ratcliffe and or Frost? I'm very concerned about Frost's ability. He's very weak on the puck, and doesn't seem to have the acceleration and speed to beat anybody one on one in that way. Mayhew and Ratcliffe have earned spots. JVR and Brassard? Not so much.
- Phillywhiteout

That is fine but if you arent going to play Frost, he should at least be playing in the AHL.

Yeo said he doesnt fit a 4th line role and I 100% agree with that but a Prospect needs to play to develop. He isnt going to grow into the player we want him to be by sitting in the Cote Suite

He has no future but I can guarantee the Flyers are going to try and move him. I just dont know if there is a market for him. The C market is flooded with players like Brassard.

Obviously you have the big 3:

Pavelski, Giroux, Hertl. Rumour is Dallas and SJ could re-sign these guys which would be great for our return.

After that you are left with:

Shaw
Tiereny
Strome
McCann
Beagle
Brassard
Eakin
Norris
Gagner
ect

I think the Flyers have to at least try and sell teams on him but it will be a tall order.

Frost scratched while Mayhew and Ratcliffe stay in the lineup. While I have tended to disagree with many moves this season I agree with this move. Frost just isn't a difference maker in any way shape or form. He has basically been invisible most games with the exception of when he loses a puck battle that leads to an opposition goal. Gotta put the big boy pants on and earn a spot! That's life in the big leagues. Thanks!

Do you string the cliches together and then reach your conclusion or do you reach the conclusion and then string your cliches together? Just asking.

Part of me wouldn’t be surprised if this coaching staff/front office is still thinking they can turn this season around as soon as Farabee, Hayes & Brassard are back and that’s why they aren’t playing Frost/York in place of vets. 🤮🤮🤮

I have nightmares about this very thing. I think somewhere deep inside they think it can happen.

Really....
still claiming Frost is set back by missing a year is now an absolutely ludicrous.
The guy has not done anything but be a middler.
I will say it again, hope he does great and becomes a 1-2 center....
But being a realist his ceiling is top line AHLer...bottom six pro at best.
