Cole Caufield has 10 points in his last 7 games(including 6 goals), but according to Chucky the Flyers don't need scoring.
But this Caufield pick, which they skipped twice, is going to haunt them. - BluehorseShoe64
It's going to haunt all the other teams that passed on Caufield also right?

Nah, only the Flyers. It only EVER haunts the Flyers, whoever the pick is, whatever the round.

signing I have no issue, who could think he was going to be this bad. I have an issue with leadership, they should have mad it clear at signing that he needed to earn his ice-time, if not he would sit regardless of the streak, just weak leadership. - wcorvette
How do you make it clear to a 34 year old vet who took the league minimum that he had to earn his ice time if they’re not even sitting him today? |

Wrong. The Wild will take Boldy over Caufield any day.

You realize that 30-40 points at ES is (frank)ing great, right?
Half of NP's points were coming on the PP, time which he did not earn. His quality of wingers was substantially higher than what Coots got early on. You can't compare the two. - Tomahawk

That wont happen. Going to be prospects and/or picks. If anything Kerfoot might be a cap dump for a better return but with Muzzin out I doubt it.

Where did he say that?
Secondly Caufiled is the same player that had 8 points over the first 30 games he played.
Its amazing how quickly people dismiss cold streaks from other teams but as soon as a Flyer goes cold he's trash or a bust. Guy went 18 games without a goal - xShoot4WarAmpsx
He was also sent down to the AHL earlier in the season.

It wasnt Donuts at the time.
He got a 2011 1st a 25 year old Setoguchi coming off a 40 point season and Prospect Charlie Coyle. Both Coyle and Setoguchi were 1st round picks
In hindsight yes it was a bad trade but looking at it at the time that was a good return. The young pieces just never panned out. The 1st round pick was also a bust. I mean Coyle wasnt a bust by any means but you would have hoped he'd turn out better than he did.

That old axiom rings true. The team that gets the best player wins the trade.

you tell him at signing, it is not like there were not signs he was in decline, he took the league min for a reason. You shape the conversation from the standpoint of what is best for the team, just leadership 101 |

here comes Frost to the AHL. I get it, play Brassard so you can hopefully trade him. Give reps to Farabee and Hayes, assuming they cant be dumb enough to be overly careful with both, but find a wing to put Farabee on, or put Brassard on the wing. Sit Brown, he cost nothing, play the klds |

100% Burns was established. Coyle, Setoguchi and the 1st round pick are all undefined. Its like the Family Guy Episode where Peter has the choice of the mystery box or the boat.
If MIN takes Rakell or Gibson with the 1st round pick or Coyle ends up being a #1 C it becomes a good deal.
This is the risk of any deal for prospects or picks.

It wasn't long ago when posters such as myself were posting that Frost needs to play with top offensive players. You were backing up Yeo in that he needed to earn the spot and improve in other areas first. Others such as myself were saying what do you have to lose by playing him up in the lineup. You disagreed repeatedly. - MJL
This is not about what line Frost plays on. As I mentioned right now if Frost moves to 1C or 2C, who are you moving to 3C, Giroux or Laughton? This is about the personnel on the power play. The Flyers PP has Sucked for several seasons now, barely getting above 20% conversion and this year its putrid at 14%. Frost has, IMO, sufficiently demonstrated that he is good on the half wall on the PP with good puck retrieval, patience and decision making. My point is there seems to be a disconnect between Fletcher stating we need more top end talent, and the coaching staff that doesn't seem to want to develop top end talent. Regarding your other comment, Every player, no matter how skilled they are, needs to earn their ice time IMO, I don't care who they are. As mentioned, IMO Frost has not demonstrated that he is the best player on his line therefore warranting a move up. However he has demonstrated his skill on the PP and so that is the source of my concern. |

Couturier didn't break out offensively until later due to how the Flyers used him. They pigeonholed him as a defensive checking line center. That is a perfect example of how the Flyers mishandle players. Luckily, Couturier overcame it. Same with Schenn. He didn't just go top the Blues and all of a sudden learn how to play. He was moved all around the lineup as a Flyer. - MJL
And this *all* happened under Hextall's watch. So was Hextall and Hakstol forced to do this by Homer and his cronies, and is that why they were fired in 2019? My point here is not to disagree with you that Couts and Schenn were mismanaged, but to illustrate that this happened long before Fletcher came aboard, so its NOT on him. Maybe with the investment made in better player developer and analytics, we will finally start to see some changes for the better. |

They had that all in place already. When are you going to realize it will not matter if they do not listen to the analytical peeps and what not.
You think his head of analytics was on board with acquiring RR?
