Ristolainen camp thinks he is worth around 6.5-7M, might test the open market, so Philly likely to move him.

Let's hope one of the teams in the Metro signs him to that.

I would be funny if Uncle Ron did us that favor.

I would dance like Snoopy on Schroeder’s piano.

would he really want a project of this magnitude at this point of his career, is the question

- Hesh_

When he took over the Islanders, they had just lost Tavares for nothing as a UFA to Toronto. They were coming off a season with the worst GAA in the NHL.

Trotz has also been the head coach of a first year expansion team..

So he's certainly not afraid of a challenge.

Next coach depends upon the direction this team goes.

If for whatever reason they truly feel they are 2-3 players away they might go with a known commodity.

I can't see some of the bigger names wanting to go through a rebuild.

You know this how? RR may very well test the UFA market. But he said last week that he hadn't spoken with his agent (Andrew Scott).

Good afternoon Bill,

Do you know of any current NHL assistants who you could see taking that next step be an upcoming quality head coach?

We've been hearing Luke Richardson's name for years as an NHL head coach in waiting.

Oh yea, and hearing Gerbes upbringing and mentality. He’d beat the snot out of Sanheim 10 out of 10 times

Everybody ignores how Sanheims legs were taken out from under him by Voracek.

Someone with previous NHL head coaching experience.
- bmeltzer

That is the most conservative approach and will allow them to defend another failed selection (if that were to happen) by saying that he had done such and such somewhere else. With all of the youth on this team, I would like to see them hire someone who has shown that he is a good teacher. Sandelin (who was a flyuer) would be good or Carle. If not him, then even someone like Quinn whom the Rags gave up on too soon. For entertainment, I would like Torts though I question whether he would have the patience for a young group. He would be entertaining but is a big presence.

Gets him with the back of his shoulder, but the fact her raised his arm to attempt the contact is not a good look.

Honestly, at full speed he initially appeared to throw his elbow up into his noggin, which would really be bad, but it was definitely the back of his shoulder that tagged him.

Regardless, the intention to contact the head appeared to be present.

I think he is the best coach in the NHL. But if he is out, Flyers should be all over it.
- bmeltzer

Agree. Isles would have to be wearing their idiot hats that day. My question is whether he would come to work under Chucky/Bobby as he is bound to have a lot of offers including potentially ... Washington.

The Flyers next head coach is going to be Rick Tocchet.

Lead pipe lock.

- StepfordSam

They aren't going to be able to sell anyone on Tocchet. I'd prefer they hire Tortorella.

Is the guy a jerk? - Yes
Does he have a short shelf life?- Yes (As do majority of coaches).

That said, his teams at the beginning of his tenure are prepared to play. I think he motivates through fear/intimidation. If you don't perform you don't play. I think this team needs a disciplinarian head coach. And more importantly a competent GM to rebuild the roster.

Our new core is likely to be young. Coots and Hayes will be the exceptions if we trade Claude. We will have 2 young goaltenders as I am assuming either Ersson or Sandstrom takes over for Jones next year unless a longshot like Fedotov seizes the role. Hopefully, sanity will prevail and the aging retreads whom Chucky/Bobby love will roll on down the road.
