That Flyers breakout out of their own end by Risto is exactly what I want to see the Flyers D do more of, skate the puck up and out versus always trying to pass to the forwards from deep in their own end.

I'm all for trying new things on the PP but Giroux as a net front guy?

Who wasn't paying attention to the fact he was wide open in the slot and a nice pass coming that he just watched go right by him!

The issue is the Flyers breakout scheme and has been all season. The gap between the defense and the forwards is too large. The forwards are out in the neutral zone and there is no forward deep. The Flyers schemes on breakouts. D zone draws, regroups, all suck.

Someone needs to lock JVR in his office and throw away the key, but first throw Yandle in there with him. Neither have much to offer this team. Waste of time and space.

Speaking of bad refs, Laughton got away with one. He should've been called on taking down Scheifele right before the Flyers goal. Konecny is now responsible for one goal against and one for.

Or the forwards are covered at their own blue line along the boards but the puck is pushed up to them anyway.

That is the system and archaic high school level breakout scheme that the Flyers play.

I think you're right, it really hasn't changed in a few years now. Yeo has talked about working on their zone breakouts so maybe with more practice they can introduce more options. But I think it starts with the D moving their feet and bringing it up a bit more.

Did you see the last rush by Winnipeg breaking out? Forwards back deep. Short quick passes and puck support. Puck support is teammates close to the puck carrier. 3 quick passed and they generate speed right into the Flyers zone. When do you see that from the Flyers?
