I kind of think it's silly to compare any NHLer to a QB.
QB is easily the most difficult position in team sports. Goalie and starting pitcher have shut down power, but there's nothing comparable to a QB in any sport.

based on that, every team should be close to even at this point outside of a few (Arizona).
While not great its not the dire situation it used to be.

Still a hell of a lot of improvement is needed.

Refs missed a lot last night. And gave Buffalo some crappy calls.

Something about superstars I think and how we have none so we get the short end of the shtick. Cause revenue and if they called the game fair the league would lose money or something.

Even with the new TV deals, the gap between profit and cash flow can be very wide, especially when you're talking about absorbing prior year losses.

That is what was so alarming about what the Sabres did in 2020. It would be one thing if the Sabres just weren't as profitable as they thought they would be, and so they tightened the purse strings a little bit, like Tom Golisano often did. The scorched earth approach they took suggests there was an even bigger problem, and the pandemic only accelerated it.
