That’s fair

but its not though.

Players request trades all the time because they literally cannot quit their jobs like you and I can if the company is "going under."

Claude Giroux is going to be traded because he doesn't want to be a part of a rebuild in Philly.

McDavid and Drai are very rumored to be nearing that edge as well, yet everybody here would be thrilled to have either of those guys.

So you've never quit a job before huh?

- ImThatGuy

I signed 3 contracts for 15yrs of my life, and I can tell you they were a hell of a lot tougher to fulfill then anything they have done. I have no sympathy for Jack or ROR because there JOB didn't work out.

ohh boo who, sports payers have it easier than us.
Their bodies take a beating, and frankly I cant blame him for not wanting to be here.

How many players have you heard over the years say avoid this organization, it goes back years, even before the Pegulas took over.

most players have zero say where they end up playing. Eichel ended up here because Tim Murray lost a lottery.

Eichel should have been in Arizona, let that sink in.

The stick out part for me is below.

Overall, being proactive is indeed key. As one reader said, “They’re clearly banking on ‘once the team is good, everything will be fine.’ It’s an attitude that needs to change.”

Does Eichel have some culpability in the state of the Sabres sucking? Yes.

Does O'Reilly during his time in Buffalo? Yes.

The common denominator though is ownership, as you know.

Literally all the team's management needed to do was be minimally competent at any point the past 7 years to ice a team that at least competed for a playoff spot, let alone actually make the playoffs even once.

Look at what Bill Zito did in Florida, and especially his first season.

Buffalo ownership and management has been hot poop for a decade. That's where all of my ire goes.

I have worked in a toxic environment, and the answer was not to stick it out or simply try harder. The answer was to get the hell out of there.

Just my own perspective above.

Eichel will dominate in Vegas like he did here

- washedup20

Hahahahaha. Define dominate.

In 6 years Jack dominated about 10 games.

4 coaches, multiple all star players, conn smythe players, none of them could help Jack because Jack was so dominant. There just weren't enough points for them all I guess.

Bill Zito had a hell of a leg up when he walked in with Huberdeau, Barkov, Ekblad and Weeger, but I won't take the credit he definitely deserves in building that team. With players that other teams casted off. Sure would be nice to see some competency someday. As soon as Terry and Kim stop thinking they're the smartest people in the room, we can move forward.

Agreed. They wasted 6 years of his life with incompetence at every level of the organization...but it is all Eichel's fault for finally telling them I'm done.

We all know Jack is going to pull a ROR and further embarass the club...I'm ok with him wining.

- IonSabres

He missed well over a full season with injury in his 6 years in Buffalo but that's the sabers fault? He ran through 4 separate coaches but that's the sabres fault?

He underperformed from day one. At no point has he ever been worth 13% of a team salary cap, but that's what the Sabres did to support him. And that's the Sabres fault?

That'll happen when the team is sold in the coming months.

With that. are we mad at the Pegulas for getting out when things are at their worst?

What did the Sabres do to support him, pay him his market value?

Remember when the coach lied about his injury, what support that was.

I'm more convinced by that than if you showed me game logs of all of Jack's hattricks. I mean game log seeing is how he only has 1 in 6 years of NHL hockey, and that one took an empty net goal. Pure dominance.

Didn't a former Sabre just score a hatty on us?

RoR, Evander Kane, Jeff Skinner, Zach Bogosian, Taylor Hall. Yep, all slouches on the ice. No support at all for Jack the $10 million, 80 point, 1-way center (assuming a healthy season, which is a bad assumption).

I get what you are saying and disagree with you. When talent wants out its the environment the organization has built, which the Sabres failed at. Even a Larry choose Arizona over Buffalo, its easy to blame the players for the results but there is an entire organization behind those players that are built to support and help them succeed, this is where the Pegulas have failed miserably.

Nope, it's that hes nothing like Matthew Stafford who just took his team to the Super Bowl. There was a foolish person here who said Jack's going to be the next Matthew Stafford, which simply is impossible because Matthew Stafford is obviously a leader who makes people around him better.

Edit: then, There were other posters who made this laughable statement that Jack is clearly a dominant hockey player who had no help. We obviously must have different definitions of dominant.
