Plenty of UFA options at forward this coming offseason.
The question for me, more so than would any be open to signing with the Sabres is, are the Sabres actually going to try and be a real team next season?
 - kingcong39
You make your moves after next year. Good players in drafts this year. Another top 10 pick next draft (we should naturally improve)
In 2023-24 season you lose Okposo, only have one bad contract in skinner and your young guys now have experience. You are ready for a breakout and will have prospects maturing every year for the foreseeable future |

If you think they'll naturally improve enough next season to not land one of Bedard or Mitchkov, then what really is the difference between say drafting 8th and 14th?
The time is right this coming offseason to actually ice a real team and try to actually win.
They're going to struggle due to how young they'll be, but they need to start actually caring about being a winning team.
Taking another season off from that is a very bad idea, not to mention the list of UFA's at forward this offseason is more appealing then the list for next offseason.
I don't believe anybody is asking to sign a player that would take away a spot from a core young player.
They're just asking to try and sign a quality split starter goaltender, an RHD, and an impact forward for the top 9. |

The second the green blur disappears, everyone gets along.
Go figure. - BeadyEyedDouche
I'll take full credit.
Didn't want to do it, but that poop show the other night was the final straw even though I was not involved.
Unfortunately, there was collateral damage to a couple other posters who don't really step over the line unless triggered by the green blur...I do hope their suspension is minor |

Thankfully we didn’t send Peyton Krebs down to the AHL.
Now everyone should start calling for Cozens to be sent down so he can go on another heater. |

I'll take the slower guy who actually produces more off the faster guy who produces less (Wright vs. Cooley or Savoie for example). - kingcong39
With where we will be picking, Simon Nemec should get serious consideration.
RHD and may end up being the best player in this draft class when we look back at this draft years from now |

krebs looked great last night and has looked pretty good overall...last night he was afforded a lot of space and showed what he's capable of...
however, two of his goals came against an indifferent philly team that packed it in while the other came against one of the worst teams in the league last night...the rest of his stats are a rather unremarkable zero goals, two assists and a -13 rating in 16 games |

I get it, but foot speed is overrated and overstated.
2 recent player who were said to be slow a foot as a big knock when they were being drafted: Brayden Point and Jason Robertson.
I'd take either one on the Sabres right now.

Hockey Canada says Claude Julien slipped on ice during team building activities in Switzerland, fractured ribs, and will be unable to fly to Beijing on advice of doctors. Jeremy Colliton takes over as head coach of Team Canada at #Beijing2022. |

If we win the lottery, we take Wright.
If Wright is off the board, I think I take Nemec personally but I could see the logic behind Cooley, Savoie, Lambert.
Sabres are adding another blue chip guy to already probably the best U23 core of talent in the league. |

The team gets to select their preferred guy, rather than settling for what's left. Allows the team to marry ~BPA and position of need

It takes time for the light to come on.
Krebs is attempting plays, succeeding on some and not so much others, that nobody on this Sabres roster would even think about making.
A lot of Krebs’ development will hinge on him figuring out what he can and cannot get away with at the NHL level.
He is going to be an elite play maker at this level in his prime. Might take a year or two to work out the kinks. |

Anderson 5-2. It’s absolutely amazing what a competent goalie can do for you. |

Are you against trying to upgrade role players while the core develops? Wouldnt that only help them mature faster and build chemistry so when the core is ready to compete, management isn't chasing these pieces down? |

I could do without Olofsson.
I like Asplund more than others but he’s also replaceable.
The Sabres have depth in spades, gotta find the 1C, 1RHD, and a goalie. UPL looks like a backup. Levi/Portillo are still years away |
