I think their drive is similar, but I would definitely say Krebs is a weaker (physically) playmaker, where as Peterka is more a power forward.

Very excited to see Cozens, Krebs, Tuch, Quinn and Peterka roaming around for the next few years.

Pop a 1st line center in there and that is a legit top 6

This kid reminds me of Tavares, which I am not fond of. I don’t like those flat feet of his but what do I know.

Well unless the lottery balls fall right, I would start looking at something different.

Dahlin Samuelson
Power Joker
Piss face (doesn’t need a partner)

UPL/Houser

I smell bottom 5.

Was told there’s no value in trading for role players outside the core, this roster is a trade deadline away from contending……

Probably get laughed at, but why can't Sir Tallness be that 1st line Center. Yes he's horrible on draws, but let Peca work with him on that.

Oh the horror at the thought of the Sabres drafting John Tavares, right?

Who needs a player like that!?!?

His play without the puck needs improving a good bit.

Ideally you need an elite talent as your 1C.

I would love it, but unless we get some lottery luck, don't think we are catching Arizona Montreal and maybe Philly

Agreed.

The idea that drafting a player like John Tavares is somehow a negative is mind numbing.

I don't think Tage is talented enough to be a 1st line Center, and more importantly, I don't think he's well rounded enough (like say peak O'Reilly) to be one either.

Here's hoping though.

If I was making real lines for next season:

Skinner Cozens Tuch
Krebs Tage X
Peterka Mitts Quinn
Murray X Okposo

Dahlin Samuelson
Power Joker
Fitzgerald X

UPL/Korpisalo*

2nd line power forward
4th line needs a defined vet
Defense needs a bully

* Only offering a contract if the plan isn’t to lose next year

Where do you think they ultimately finish? Third or Forth? The goalie situation alone could make it interesting.

Maybe not Defensively, but his point trajectory is basically the same this year.

I'll go 5th as all of Montreal, Arizona, Seattle, and Ottawa finish worse in the standings, although it'll likely be a horse race with Ottawa.

Caveat is I have no idea how Philadelphia and New Jersey are so bad.

I compared him to Tavares for the reason that he is highly talented, I just don’t like his foot speed, they already have a high end slow top 6 player on the roster with Mitts. I never said the Sabres shouldn’t draft him if they could.

Crank the drama notch down guy

This entire post is applause worthy.

You nailed it regarding their team needs and the roster construction.

The only difference I'd have is Girgendons as 4th line LW and I'd bring back Jankowski for 4th line C duties.

Hertl would fit that 2nd line like a glove. He could even take the draws for Tage whenever needed, and fill in at C if/when injuries occur.

I get it, but foot speed is overrated and overstated.

2 recent player who were said to be slow a foot as a big knock when they were being drafted: Brayden Point and Jason Robertson.

I'd take either one on the Sabres right now.

Skating can always be improved. Hell, look at the improvement of Samuelsson's skating.

All good points, none were the heading into the draft as the unanimous 1OA though.

Just like when I watched Dahlin highlights before the draft I thought the kid couldn’t finish.

Nhl draft is a roulette table

Plenty of UFA options at forward this coming offseason.

The question for me, more so than would any be open to signing with the Sabres is, are the Sabres actually going to try and be a real team next season?
