I did answer your question, you’re just too stupid to see it. Yandle isn’t getting sat for the reasons I stated. He’s on a record the team and the league likely wants to see through, on top of being a respected NHL player. They’re not gonna cut off the record so a marginal prospect can get “experience”. If you don’t see what you’re proposing is stupid, than you’re exactly that.

The problem i see is everyone makes bad plays, see adam fox turn the puck over last night? Norris winner. To some flyers fans that would be totally unacceptable, and be harped on here for hours. I find with RR, every mistake is under a microscope, and everything good is ignored. He has his warts for sure. But he fills a need that no other D we have is filling.

Risto has severe flaws for sure. But he simply isn't as bad a player as his detractors make him out to be. He raises our possession %s. Every single forward he plays with has his possession and expected GF% rise when he is on the ice with Risto. I could cherry pick many stats to show he is better than he truly is, but nvm.

Risto seems kinda averagish. Still think it was a dumb trade to make. But I blame the price paid for that trade, and the mindset it reveals, far more than the player himself.

Imagine you are the Vegas Knights knowing that next year you have to blow it all up because you have to fit Eichel under the cap. So you offer them a hypothetical package of Risto and G at both 50% retained....sure you may have to take back a contract but maybe you get a 1st and Brendan Brisson thrown back in.

Vegas would be near unbeatable because they could also bring in Eichel at playoff time with zero cap ramifications. They almost have to make this type of move because their team needs to be broken apart next year to be cap compliant.

Some weeks back, I ran a simple regression for my own curiosity. I used independent variables of xG%, HDCF% and CF% and dependent variable of league standings. My curiosity was: which of these independent variables correlate the most (predict the best) the overall record of teams.

Answer: no clear winner, and no great correlation either. Only about 50% of the standings was predicted by those independent variables, with a lot of noise (lots of teams deviated from trend).
