Thanks, I was looking everywhere trying to find what that original call was. I had assumed the original call was a phantom elbow or hit to the head call.
Where did you see that was the original call? I didn’t see the ref indicate that and the call from the Arena announcer said only there is a five minute penalty under review? - paulr
You're right they never called interference initially. That call was made after the fact because for some reason you can't rescind a major penalty to no penalty at all. They had to call a minor penalty. Another idiotic rule.

I was watching in real time, I honestly didn't here what the major was for, I am just going by the article, doesn't mean the article is right either.
I didn't see the penalty that was called but I assume it was for interference as McKinnon didn't have the puck on his stick. Same call was made in the Hawks/Red Wings game - bjphawkfan
Technically if they call a 5 minute major a penalty must be assessed even if video review shows it wasn't a penalty, at least that's what the broadcasters said
Strome was in King's doghouse for a while as well. He's seemed to have played his way out of it. I'm sure King is communicating to Borgstrom what he needs to do to improve. It's on him to do so.
As a coach, if a player isn't executing his assignments on the ice, you take time away from him... regardless of how much talent the fanbase thinks he has. - Chunk

Rocky Wirtz, Danny Wirtz and Jaime Faulkner will address the "greater vision of the organization moving forward" during a public meeting next Wednesday at 6pm before the Blackhawks face the Wild.
If Toews is unable to continue playing, I wonder if he would be considered as head coach after this season. Gary Green was an NHL head coach at 26, Paul Maurice 28, Marc Crawford 33 (won a Cup at 34).
If Toews goes on LTIR for purpose of never playing again (like Seabs) Hawks would have about $10.5 mil in cap space to work with at the TDL. They could weaponize that space and acquire assets. Or have about $17 mil in cap space this summer (or much more depending on if they resign none of their pending RFA’s and UFA’s).
Very very unlikely. But it would really change the Hawks world. I still would hold off making major moves until the TDL in 2023 or the Summer 2023.

He has zero coaching experience. What makes you think he can coach or has any interest to?

If there was 21 million dollars on the table to skate up and down the ice, prolly going to take the 21 million dollars or go on LTIR.
I don't think there is anyone who would lave that on the table.
