Ihave been permanently barred form posting on the athletic, but so want to say, Just why Power's opinion that Kyle Davidson should be the permanent GM should hold any weight? Does he really understand the game?
This is a long term rebuild and a on the fly one too, so whoever it is might need to strap in and expect quick decisions to facilitate th long term ideas...
something I don't think Powers is capable as a writer.
Hey, Theo I got something I a working on and I want it to be posted here first.
It is about the mock rankings I am pretty comfortable with and how the prospects available in the first four rounds may impact strategies even if the are able to add a first or others in that rag. It includes alley first four rounds and is pretty dang long but I think it will elicit discussion as to what the franchise does.
let's talk - wiz1901
Sounds good, Wiz. I'll send you a private message. |

Blackhawks lines in morning skate, with Borgstrom taking Toews’ place and Khaira returning:
Hagel-Strome-Kane
DeBrincat-Borgstrom-Lafferty
Kubalik-Dach-Kurashev
Khaira-Carpenter-Entwistle
McCabe-Seth Jones
De Haan-Murphy
Caleb Jones-Gustafsson - Chunk
That's about as good as the forward lines can be. Lafferty playing top 6 is growing on me. Not that I see him as a top 6 player but he has a great compete level, speed, and versatility to slot up and down the lineup like Shaw.
For the D pairs, though, put McCabe and Murphy back together then de Haan with S Jones. The 3rd pair is fine with rotating in whoever the youngster du jour is (Kalynuk right now). |

And how was that not a boarding penalty? Contact was through the numbers on the back of Toews jersey. - GreenJeans
Thanks Greeny - you beat me to it. I guess soon the NHL will be putting the stop sign on the back of the jerseys.
And BTW, there was nothing wrong with Hall's hit on KcKinnon. If I were King, I would give up my salary to the player that takes Maker out! F Joe Sackitch! |

If the Hawks trade Strome, and Johnny retires or regresses this would be next yrs centers along with Reichel and Tyler Johnson added to the mix? Also, Carpenter is a UFA next yr too.
Will be interesting to watch KD and Danny work the C position at this TDL and offseason.

Think you're right, Wiz. ....... Closest model off the top of my head is Columbus especially if they can find a GM to make a Seth Jones type trade with KD & Danny accelerating the rebuild by 3 yrs.

Should be easy enough. Doesn’t need to be a Seth Jones “type” trade…they could actually trade Seth Jones. Easy peasy. |

This is pure idiocy. I usually like most of what you post here PE. It gives some fun color to the board. However, this kind of poop is disgusting in my eyes. |

Updates from beat reporters:
* Connolly recalled from Rockford.
* T Johnson at least a month away from being eligible to play again.
* Stillman out 2-3 weeks.
* Khaira still out (due to back spasms, I believe).
* Dach will play 2C while Lafferty will play 3C which bumps Borgstrom to 4LW.

They’ll never challenge for a cup paying a #2 D-man that much money. Plus, it’s not like he’s a kid. In 4 years he’ll be 32 and likely in decline. |

I'm thinking Borgstrom wasn't where he was supposed to be when deHaan made that blind pass where 13 was for a brief moment

Curious how many great chances the Avs will get on the right side, with Cat, Kubs and Borgy playing their stellar defense |

They did with Campbell - BetweenTheDots
They also had Kane, Toews, Keith, Seabrook, Hjalmarsson, Bolland, and Byfuglien all on either entry level or affordable bridge type deals. No chance that happens again…especially without 1st round picks. Jones will never be worth the price. |

Borgstrom as 4LW? - Theo Fox
I was beating the Borgstrom drum for a few days in a row a week or so ago. Didn't he have his two goal game playing on a a line with Entwistle and Carp, or was that someone else? I think as long as he is getting minutes and developing it's fine. He's only been getting about 10 mins per night though.
Let's be honest. It doesn't really matter, and if he is not doing something that the coaches are asking of him, it's on him to earn more ice-time. Strome seems ot have figured that out recently.

Better strap in for 8 years of misery then, cuz I doubt he goes anywhere. |

I have faith it'll work out, i mean we went from Murphy being the best dman on this team and in one year we have 2 guys definitely better than him. I would like to see more of Galvas but i get it let him get more seasoning and become stronger in the AHL, like Reichel, Slavin and others. |
