Brock these days only looks good when he's the 3rd wheel on a line. Miller is being asked to do too much on that line, needs someone to play with him that can gain entry into the offensive zone by carrying it or making good entry passes to a linemate in stride, Petey did that in the past, Brock just isn't that guy.
- Nucker101

Brock has always been a 3rd wheel imo. My problem is he can be very good at it when scoring the IF is where I’ve a problem. Having 2 line mates to prop him up is a luxury few teams can live with. Needs a McD to work so depth doesn’t suffer.

Bruce on Brock; (Global)

Needs to move his legs
Need to work hard at practise
We are all keeping an eye on Brock, we need him to be the scorer that he can be.

Bye Brock.

Not sure but I see LA still pay Mike Richards and I believe he was arrested for possession.

Yeah good point. I think they just terminated his contract and there was some sort of settlement. Just wishful thinking but it would be nice if they could get that extra 500k off the books next year.

Hearing Evander Kane's 1-year deal w/ #Oilers would earn him ~$1 million in cash for remainder of season.

Because deal begins halfway thru season, expect Kane's cap hit would be roughly double that.

Usual caveats: if signed, if no discipline from NHL. Stay tuned. @DailyFaceoff

Some interesting numbers that I copied from the comment section on a different site

In defence of OEL and Poolman (as well as Myers), they have been handed lots of defensive responsibilities and not a lot of offensive opportunities. If we look at zone starts and TOI, Hughes has 69.2% in O-zone starts compared to OEL (44.3%), Poolman (40.4%) and Myers (40.3%). Hughes has 157 PP minutes TOI compared to OEL (72), Poolman (3) and Myers (12). Hughes has 23 PK minutes TOI compared to OEL (81), Poolman (64), and Myers (106). The reason why these three have low point production is because they are too busy sheltering Hughes.

Brock isn’t making a good case to stick around let alone a 7.5m QO.

Zone stars get blown out of proportion by some analytics peeps, I used to do it myself so I'm guilty for sure

OEL: 11% OZ / 18% NZ / 57% On the Fly / 15% DZ
Myers: 12% OZ / 16% NZ / 58% On the Fly / 14% DZ
Poolman: 10% OZ / 16% NZ / 63% On The Fly / 12% DZ
Hughes: 15% OZ / 14% NZ / 61% On The Fly / 11% DZ

(Some won't add up to 100% exactly because of number rounding)

Chris Johnston of the Toronto Star: Don’t be surprised if the salary cap remains flat next season at $81.5 million.

Using the on the fly percent, do you think for someone like Hughes ,it was going in the offensive direction or the defensive direction?
