Imagine what we could have got for Kesler before he had a NTC and demanded a trade. - A_SteamingLombardi
I would expect 3 good assets for Miller. Using Colorado as an example Justin Barron D, Tyson Jost (preferably Alex Newhook) and a 1st round pick in 2023.
Or the Rangers, Schneider, Lafreniere and Othmann or 1zt round pick. |

LeBrun:
“This team needs young prospects, more prospects in the pipeline,” said The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun on “Insider Trading” on Thursday evening. “If a team steps up with three to four prospects, three to four assets, it’s something they’ve probably got to look at.”
Don't think the Rangers would part with a package that big, but the return would be sizeable. Imagine if the Canucks retained 50% as well.... getting a top line C/W for 2.6 mil for 1.5 years? |

If the Canucks were to retain, a 4th asset would have to be involved |

I'd be fine with that. Especially if they can offload Halak before his bonus is due. Save 1.5 mil there and retain 2.5 on Miller for one year |

It doesn't seem to be talked about much but maybe Horvat should be the one to be sold. Will he ever be a PPG player? Is he more easily replaced than Miller?

Horvat will resign. Miller not likely. Horvat likely to sign another team friendly contract. Miller will cash in...

Boeser having a good game as well. Two nice set ups and this goal. 300%
It will be interesting how this team looks healthy... played amazing before the outbreak... - boonerbuck
No. Miller-Boeser-Petey all scored need to trade them yesterday. There is no future...

Plus, I think, Miller's trade value is more than Horvat's. Horvat is also 2 years younger. |

Exactly, maybe with one of the picks we get for Miller we draft our own Miller who will peak with the rest of the team. - A_SteamingLombardi
Perfect. Another 5 years to develop a 'drafted' Miller clone so he can peak just in time when the new GM and coach arrive. |

Yeah would like to see Miller back on a team friendly deal but can't see it. American players will probably want back on a US team with a big contract ASAP. |

I could never figure out why Boston never got rid of Bergeron, he has only had 1 season at the all important PPG.

Miller is a better player. Is it harder to find a 2lc or a 1lc? |

the late bloomer as rare as the elite 20 year.
Ideally, find a way to sign them all. OEL buy out in two years when everyone is due. Is 8M in savings that year.
I do think the Canucks need another young player and should get another draft pick or two in the top 90 and if the next AGM of scouting does well. The oh so depleted prospect pool will all of a sudden look amazing again. |

To have the return would have to be top notch. Any pick outside of 20 has less than an 8% chance of being a having "star" potential.
Trading him at the draft when you know your return would be better. Plus you are adding in more teams.
Unless someone blows your socks off. 😆 |

For Miller, I'm against trading for picks. The time it takes to get those picks up to the NHL doesn't make sense, it's the same sentiment for trading Miller that the windows don't truly align (though younger players can keep the window open longer)
I'd rather trade for prospects and players, with a 1st thrown in. The likes of Schneider, Chytil, Newhook, Jost, etc... lets you gauge and target more the players that are already likely to make that jump onto the team and have an impact. |

A nice win to wake up to!
Most of us that "want" him gone see it as a timing issue. The Canucks' window and Miller's window aren't the same. You saying they'll be "talking about finding a Miller years from now" is the exact scenario: when they're ready to truly compete, they'll want someone like Miller. But if they keep Miller, he'll more than likely be on the decline at that time, and be signed to an increasingly albatross of a contract. So trading him now sets the team up better (with younger players and more cap space) for that window, when it is open.
If Miller wanted to sign a 3 year contract, I'd be all for it. But I'm assuming he's gonna want a Landeskog kind of deal. - NewYorkNuck
I’m more for a 5yr deal if he is to stay & wants to lead the team. The temptation of the return for him is something the Canucks have never done. |

I think the Canucks making the playoffs is still very possible right now. Obviously that could change by the deadline. If Canucks are trading Miller. They better full tank and get to 8oa so they are picking top 10. Adding a bunch of parts that aren't going to move the team up the standing doesn't make much sense. Just turn into the Flyers now. |
